Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins

Happy Weekend to all my fellow readers. I hope everyone has had an awesome week, and has some fun things planned as January comes to an end. Is anyone going on any vacations? My hubby and I will be in April and I can't wait :)

For my final review of January, I'm here to talk about an amazing time travel type book, Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins. Time travel books have become a recent favorite of mine. I absolutely loved Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, and Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier, and also Timeless and Timekeeper by Alexandra Monir, so I was extremely excited to come across another YA book in this same type of setting. Here's the synopsis from goodreads: "They exist in two different centuries, but their love defies time

Cassandra craves drama and adventure, so the last thing she wants is to spend her summer marooned with her mother and stepfather in a snooty Massachusetts shore town. But when a dreamy stranger shows up on their private beach claiming it's his own—and that the year is 1925—she is swept into a mystery a hundred years in the making.

As she searches for answers in the present, Cassandra discovers a truth that puts their growing love—and Lawrence's life—into jeopardy. Desperate to save him, Cassandra must find a way to change history…or risk losing Lawrence forever."

I was instantly intrigued with the added mystery plot hinted at in the synopsis. I love time travel type romance books to begin with, especially YA ones, but adding the mystery into the plot, made it even more appealing for me. Cassandra was a character that I really didn't care for to start with, but honestly ended up growing on me more and more throughout the book. She's bitter at the fact that her mom and stepdad have forced her to give up an entire summer before her senior year in high school, vacationing on what she sees as a snooty town where she feels she has nothing in common with anyone. Her reckless adventures at the start of the novel lead to trouble with her parents, and she feels she can't tolerate any more of the high society parties her parents either attend or throw at the big house they're renting, and escaping from one of these situations leads her to the beach out in front of her house. where she meets a handsome stranger she originally believes to be trespassing on her property, Lawrence. But Lawrence is adamant in his own idea that she is the one trespassing, and that this house belongs to his uncle. They're both right in a sense, as Lawrence is from 1925, while Cassandra is living in 2015. Neither of them can make sense of what happened to allow them to meet, but both feel that fate has a big hand in it, and they're meeting must have a greater purpose.

The reader clearly sees the relationship developing between the two, and I loved the chemistry that exists in their interactions. It's easy to see that it's not just a summer fling to either one of them, but their circumstances make a future seem impossible. Cassandra's investigating of the year Lawrence is currently living in, also leads to further problems, as she soon finds out that there's more to Lawrence's story than he himself even realizes, and it's up to the two of them to rewrite history for Lawrence to have a different ending. But of course, they soon learn that changing the past can have huge consequences on the future, a fact that neither of them is prepared for when it happens.

I'll end by saying that I truly adored this book, and it was an awesome book with which to finish out this month. I gave this one five out of five stars, and I highly recommend giving it a try :)

My favorite quote was: "I feel like, if this is real, then my dreams can be real. If these feelings I have for you are truth, then the truth of my words is worth fighting for, and it doesn't matter what people expect of me." This was such a swoon worthy quote, and it definitely made me fangirl :)

Thanks for reading everyone, and I'll see you soon for my January 2016 wrap up post.

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
