Friday Reads: May 27th, 2016

Happy Friday To All My Fellow Readers!

I would say I'm so glad it's the weekend, but I'm actually working the majority of the weekend this time, so unfortunately it won't be too much of a relaxing time at home for me.

However, I do still hope to have time to dive into some amazing books, and hence, that's why I'm here with another #Friday Reads post.

#Friday Reads is a weekly meme hosted by the Petite Book Blogger, and it entails sharing the books you'll be reading over the weekend, whether or not you're enjoying them if you've already started them, and she also includes whether or not she will be reviewing the titles she's currently reading.

Here are the amazing sounding books that I'll be curling up with this week:

1) The Help by Kathryn Stockett:

This book had been on my TBR list for quite sometime, especially since I loved the movie, and I heard this was one movie that had actually done the book justice. I happened to find a copy of this book at our used bookstore after Boxing Day for only 50 cents, and I definitely grabbed it! I started it a couple of days ago, and I'm already completely loving it. I'm really enjoying the three extremely different viewpoints, and the light it shines on an extremely difficult situation. This book is taking me quite some time to read, so I don't think I'll finish it this weekend, but I definitely hope to make a good dent in it.

2) Better Than Chocolate by Sheila Roberts:

This particular book appeared on my first Friday reads post a couple of weeks ago, and I've honestly not even picked it up since. Unfortunately, right after I started it, I had a couple of library books come in that I'd been on a waiting list for, and as such, I didn't have time to get to this one. I am however, really enjoying the little bit that I did read awhile ago, about a woman who's on a quest to save her family's chocolate business, and I do hope to read at least a little bit of this one this weekend.

3) Once A Soldier by Mary Jo Putney:

I'm completely loving this one, which is an ARC I received at RT Booklovers last month. I'm really enjoying this historical romance set in a small European country that's facing the aftermath of destruction the French caused during the way. I really find myself enjoying the four main characters, and I will honestly probably be finishing this book within the next couple of hours, as I only have about sixty or so pages left. I do hope to review this one after I finish it.

4) The Sweetest Thing by Lilian Darcy:

I always have books saved to my Ibooks, mainly for the purpose of reading on my breaks at work. I don't particularly like dragging my physical books with me to work, as I don't want anything to happen to them, so Ibooks is usually my go to. This sweet read by Lilian Darcy is currently my book of choice. While I haven't read too far into it yet, I do like the pretense of a big family secret, and so far, I'm also really enjoying the main characters. :)

5) All In by Simona Ahrnstedt:

This book is one I have been highly anticipating ever since I first received it at RT Booklovers last month. It's an ARC of the first foreign-language romance ever to be translated and published in America, and I've already heard amazing things about it. I'm not actually familiar with Simona's work, or what this particular novel is about, but I honestly can't wait to dive into it!

6) The Last Summer Of You And Me by Ann Brashares:

I'm embarrassed to admit just how long this particular novel has been sitting on my shelf for. I should probably also be embarrassed to admit that I don't even particularly know what it's about, I just know that I've really loved the novels by Ann Brashares that I've read in the past, and I'm hoping this one will be no different.

7) The Darkest Lie by Pintip Dunn:

This is another ARC that I received at RT Booklovers, and considering almost all the other books on my last are adult fiction, I'm really craving some YA, and so chose this one, and the one I'll talk about below it. This is my first experience with a novel by Pintip Dunn, but the premise sounds amazing! It's about a high school student who's mother killed herself, after rumors surfaced that she was having sex with a student. But there's more to the story than meets the eye, and that's what the main characters sets out to find.

8) Lastly, is Recreated by Colleen Houck:

Once again, I received this ARC at RT Booklovers, and I look forward to continuing on with Amon and Lily's story, even though the first book wasn't really my favorite. I still, however, have high hopes for this novel, and I'm looking forward to diving into it!

Thanks for reading guys! These are the books I will be reading from this weekend, although I will definitely not be finishing all of them, I hope to make a good dent! I'd love to hear what you are all planning on reading this weekend as well. :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

First Line Friday: Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake

Happy Friday Friends :) There's so many reasons I'm excited that it's once again Friday. I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything. Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
