Top 5 Wednesday: Books You Will Never Read

Happy Top 5 Wednesday Guys!

If you're unfamiliar with Top 5 Wednesday, it's a weekly meme that was created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey on Youtube, and is now moderated by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes, also from Youtube. It's a great way to connect and engage with other booklovers, and the group communicates through goodreads. If you're interested in learning more about it, here is the link:

Today's topic is "Books You Will Never Read: Whether it's from a series you've outgrown or don't wish to continue, or they are popular books that just don't interest you, let us know what you don't plan on reading."

1) The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey:

I took a really unpopular opinion on this book, since honestly I did not like The Fifth Wave at all. I found it extremely boring, and hard to follow with how many viewpoints it was told from. Once finishing it, I honestly had no urge whatsoever to continue on with the series, and that does not actually happen with me too too often.

2) Wicked by Sara Shepard:

I read the first four books, I think, in the Pretty Little Liars series, and I really couldn't stand the juvenile way I felt they were written. I know I DNF'd on the last one I read, which I believe was the fourth book, and I have no desire at all to ever continue on with the rest of this series. I was expecting amazing things from it, and I was highly disappointed when I actually picked them up.

3) The Calling by James Frey:

I'm sorry to say but my main issues with this one are with the unethical practices surrounding James Frey himself. I've heard so many horror stories about his company, and it makes me hesitant to want to support his works as an author. While I do understand that everyone makes mistakes, I feel this whole situation is just not okay, and I personally will not be reading these books.

4) The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle by "L.J. Smith"

I can't even begin to describe how sad it makes me that L.J. Smith no longer owns the rights to her beloved series. I personally won't ever be reading these series, and that's entirely due to the fact that L.J. Smith is not legally allowed to write them. I think it's so sad that she's only been able to continue on with writing the series and characters she created as fanfiction, and I just can't bring myself to ever be okay with this.

5) Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined by Stephenie Meyer:

My last pick for books that I will never read is the new gender reversal Twilight novel. While everyone who has read my previous blog posts knows that I'm a huge Twilight fan, and have read the original four books over and over again, but I really have no interest in reading this one. I felt like it was completely unnecessary in the first place, and the reviews I've read have made me even more determined that it's just not for me. You can bet that if it had just been a special 10th anniversary edition of the novel with some never before released bonus content, that I would have jumped at the chance to grab it, but, as it is, I just have no interest in it, sorry to say.

So that's my list of books that I personally will never read.

I can't wait to see which books everyone else picked for this week's topic, and I thank you all for reading!

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
