Christmas Book Haul 2018

Good Morning Bookish Friends :)

Thank you all for joining me here today on The Preppy Book Princess.

I really went back and forth this year as to whether or not I wanted to post a Christmas book haul. I did one in 2015 and 2016, and then last year I posted a post of everything I got for Christmas for 2017. However, I know a lot of people really don't like them, and think they're kind of tactless, so I wasn't sure if I was still going to post one or not.

When it came down to it though, I decided I still wanted to, as I love reading and watching everyone else's Christmas book hauls, and I got some really exciting books this year that I wanted to share about with you all.

This year I am only going to be showing the books and bookish goodies I got, and not including everything like I did last year.

Lastly, this post is not meant to brag or come across as so, it's simply a fun way of sharing the lovely bookish goodies that my hubby and amazing family and friends gifted me this year.

First off, I received Catwoman: Soul Stealer by Sarah J Maas. I actually haven't read the first two books in the DC Superheroes series yet, but this is a series I'm hoping to get to really soon.

And I received Descendant by Lesley Livingston. I also haven't read the first two books in this series either, but it's another one I hope to get to soon.

It was a Denise Hunter Christmas for me this year as I received five of her books. Kind of funny that my hubby didn't actually realize that he ended up buying me two copies of The Accidental Bride or that he actually bought me Falling Like Snowflakes for a previous Christmas, but I love them regardless and I may just decide to do a giveaway with them on my blog in the near future. I also received The Trouble With Cowboys and The Convenient Groom. I haven't read either of these, and I'm a big Denise Hunter fan so I'm very much looking forward to getting to them.

My favorite book I read in 2018 was Kristin Harmel's The Life Intended, so words cannot express how excited I am to have received another one of her books, When We Meet Again. I also received a 3-in-1 book of Debbie Macomber's Shirley, Mercy and Goodness stories. I also received The Little Village Christmas by Sue Moorcroft which I'd never heard of before but sounds like something I'd really enjoy.

I receive three Emory Lord novels. I love The Start of Me and you and Open Road Summer, and haven't yet read The Name They Gave Us.

Summer of Yesterday by Gabby Triana is one of my all time favorite books. I mean it combines a cute romance, time travel and Disney World, what's not to love? I have yet to read the first two books in the Firebird trilogy, but it's on my list for this year so I'm happy to have received the third book so that I can marathon them. And I'm also looking forward to reading another Cynthia Hand book as well.

I've heard nothing but great things about The Thing With Feathers and my Disney loving self can't wait to get to the third Descendants novel.

New Christian fiction is always a win win in my eyes, and I actually haven't read any of these books yet, and can't wait to do so.

These four were some of the ones I was the most excited about honestly. I can't wait to read all of these, and need to make them a priority in the near future. Plus, I can't wait to play around with each of these in Bookstagram photos.

Without a doubt, this BabySitter's Club box set was one of my favorite Christmas presents. I still say this series and it's spin off, the little sisters, are what really truly inspired my love of reading. I can't even express how happy I am that they decided to do this re release.

My best friend got me a bunch of props for taking Bookstagram photos and I love them. She got me this adorable hedgehog tray, a little treasure chest, some new lights, a star shaped candle, and some blue and white gems. And most precious of all, she painted me this beautiful sign that I can't wait to take pictures of, and is one of the most special gifts I've ever personally received for Christmas.

My sister got me these three adorable book shaped boxes to use in Bookstagram photos as well, and I adore them. Seriously, they are so cute, and will double as decor pieces in my home library.

My hubby purchased this beautiful Hogwarts hoodie for me for Christmas, and it's definitely coming with me on vacation here shortly.

And lastly, my hubby surprised me by purchasing three Indigo Book Boxes for me for Christmas. I was so ecstatic about these, as I've never had any kind of book suscription box before, and that's really what these reminded me of. Each one contains one or two signed books, a letter from each author, and some fun items to go along with the books.

If you're from Canada and a fan of any of these books or authors, you need to check these out. They're such a decent price, and basically end up costing less than it would cost you to just buy the books by themselves.

Here's the links to the Veronica Roth One, The Geekerella and Chaotic Good One, and The Darkest Minds and To All The Boys One.

Each of these is only 29.99 to purchase, and there's also a Leigh Bardugo one and an Angie Thomas one among others. I can't recommend them enough.

And that's all the bookish goodies I received this year guys. I'm so thankful for the amazing, thoughtful gifts that my family and friends gave me this year, and as always, I'm thankful for the many opportunities I had this year to celebrate the true reason for the season, the ultimate gift of salvation sent to us by our Heavenly Father in the Baby Jesus!

Thanks so much for reading guys :) Have a great rest of your day.

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

First Line Friday: Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake

Happy Friday Friends :) There's so many reasons I'm excited that it's once again Friday. I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything. Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
