Happy Good Friday Everyone :)
Welcome back to The Preppy Book Princess, and to another week of First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books.
If you're unfamiliar, First Line Friday is a weekly meme that involves sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading.
My choice for this week is:
Only Uni by Camy Tang:
About The Book:
Senior biologist Trish Sakai is ready for a change from her wild, flirtatious behavior. So Trish creates three simple rules from First and Second Corinthians and plans to follow them to the letter. No more looking at men as possible dates, especially non-Christians. Second, tell others about Christ. And third, she willpersevere in hardship by relying on God. And just to make sure she behaves, she enlists the help of her three cousins—Lex, Venus and Jennifer—the only Christians in their large extended family.
But Trish’s dangerously tempting ex-boyfriend, Kazuo the artist, keeps popping up at all the wrong moments, and her grandmother, who has her eye on his family money, keeps trying to push the two of them back together again. Then there’s Spencer, the hunky colleague at work who keeps turning Trish’s thoughts in the wrong direction.
It just isn’t fair! She’s trying so hard, but instead of being God’s virtuous woman, she’s going nuts trying to stand firm against two hunky guys. Trish thought following her three rules would be a cinch, but suddenly those simple rules don’t seem so simple after all.
My Thoughts:
I read the first book in this series quite awhile ago, and had always intended to continue on with the rest of the books. However, I got sidetracked with other series I was reading, and it had gotten forgotten about. I'm really enjoying being back in this book world, and diving once again into the hilarious antics that Camy Tang incorporates throughout these stories. I also love how she focuses on the fact that these four cousins are the only Christians in their extremely large extended family, and the real struggles they go through trying to stay respectful to their elders, while not compromising their Christian beliefs in the process.
First Sentence:
"Trish Sakai walked through the door and the entire room hushed."
Thanks for stopping by today guys! Happy Friday and Happy Reading, and be sure to head on over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating!
