If You Like To Read This, Try That

Good Morning Everyone :)

I hope you're all having a great week so far, and I want to thank you all for joining me here on The Preppy Book Princess.

I've been working on this particular post for quite awhile, and I'm excited to finally get to share it with all of you guys.

I feel like a lot of readers are still unfamiliar with just how many titles currently exist within the Christian Fiction market, and this particular genre is still getting stereotyped as containing only historical fiction and westerns. (Although those are pretty amazing in their own right!)

Today I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of my favorite, or more popular regular fiction books, and then make a comparison to a Christian Fiction book. Like the title of the post states, this will be a "if you like this, give that a try."

Let's go ahead and get started.

Anyone who's read my blog for awhile will know that I'm a huge fan of time travel, and that this particular trilogy is one of my all time favorites. If you are also a fan of either this trope or this trilogy then I highly recommend that you give:

The River of Time series by Lisa T Bergen a chance. Both of these series are about teenage girls experiencing time travel, and both take place in Europe. Both also have an eclectic cast of secondary characters, feature romances, and keep the reader on the edge of their seat. Check out my full review of the first book here

Sarah Dessen's contemporaries continue to be some of my all time favorites, but I'm happy to say that I've recently discovered a Christian young adult author who's first novel reminds me very much of a Sarah Dessen novel.

Brittany Goodwin writes about grief, growing up, overcoming obstacles, first loves, and how to move on when the grief seems crippling. I highly recommend this one to anyone who's a Sarah Dessen fan like myself. Check out my full review here

If you're a fan of fairytale retellings, like the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, then you definitely want to give any of Melanie Dickerson's fabulous stories a try.

While these novels aren't science fiction like Marissa's novels are, they each predominately focus around a retelling of a famous fairy tale, and definitely have a fantasy element to them.

I personally love dystopian novels, and I really enjoyed this trilogy by Ally Condie. When I picked up Krista McGee's dystpian series, I noticed lots of similarities between the two, especially within the world building, and really found myself enjoying reading it as well.

And lastly,

If you're a fan of the popular fantasy young adult books, like Throne of Glass,

Then you need to check out Fawkes by Nadine Brandes. Fawkes focuses heavily around magic, world building, kingdoms; honestly you name it, it has it. Plus, it's a re-imagined story of Guy Fawkes which just makes it that much more amazing. Check out my full review here

Thanks so much for joining me today guys! I had so much fun getting to share these recommendations with you, and I hope to do a follow up to this post soon with even more recommendations. Have a great rest of your day!

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: The Joy of Falling

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you've had time to curl up with some great books. This week, Lindsay Harrel's newest book released, and I loved it when I had the chance to read and review it. First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
