Living Lies by Natalie Walters Review

Good Morning Bookish Friends :)

I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you for joining me here on The Preppy Book Princess.

I've mentioned many times before on my blog that Dani Pettrey and Colleen Coble are two of my all time favorite authors, and also that I love taking a chance on new authors.

So when I heard about an upcoming debut novel by Natalie Walters that falls under the Christian suspense heading, I knew I had to go ahead and give it a try.

Living Lies by Natalie Walters:

Source: Publisher (Revell) Via NetGalley

Publisher: Revell

Publication Date: May 21st, 2019

Genre: Christian Fiction/Suspense

Synopsis:

In the little town of Walton, Georgia, everybody knows your name--but no one knows your secret. At least that's what Lane Kent is counting on when she returns to her hometown with her five-year-old son. Dangerously depressed after the death of her husband, Lane is looking for hope. What she finds instead is a dead body.

Lane must work with Walton's newest deputy, Charlie Lynch, to uncover the truth behind the murder. But when that truth hits too close to home, she'll have to decide if saving the life of another is worth the cost of revealing her darkest secret.

Debut novelist Natalie Walters pulls you to the edge of your seat on the first page and keeps you there until the last in this riveting story that will have you believing no one is defined by their past.

My Review:

Natalie Walters' debut novel is a fantastic ride from start to finish. There is very few things I love more when it comes to the book world than discovering a debut author who's work grabs my attention right from the opening chapters, and that's definitely what happened with Living Lies.

I honestly think this book has a little of everything; a great mystery, so many suspenseful moments, a heart felt romance (sigh Charlie...), a great cast of supporting characters, an emphasis on faith, and a primary focus on the struggles that those suffering with mental health deal with on a daily basis.

Living Lies is a testament to just how talented of an author Natalie Walters is, and I put this amazing novel right up there with the ranks of Dani Pettrey and Colleen Coble. I couldn't put it down once I started it, and I read almost the entire thing in one sitting. I had so many scenarios running through my mind as to who I thought was behind everything, and yet it still kept me guessing almost right up until the end.

If you're a fan of romantic suspense, then this is definitely the book for you, and I will be waiting not-so-patiently for the release of the second book in the series.

This book is a nail biter, keep you on the edge of your seat, page turner from start to finish, and I couldn't have enjoyed it more. I gave it a perfect five out of five star rating, and it's easily one of my favorite books I've read so far this year.

I can't possibly recommend it enough.

Thank you to Revell and NetGalley for the opportunity to advance read this!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher (Revell) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. I was not required to give a positive review.

First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
