One Enchanted Eve by Melissa Tagg Review

 Hello Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

I'm Kirby, and if you didn't already know, I absolutely adore Christmas books.

It's officially December, and I'm ready to start sharing all the Christmas reviews.

Of course, I will still have some non Christmas reads to share with you all this month as well, but I'm hoping to get to share many reviews of Christmas themed reads before the end of December.

A couple of years ago, I had read and loved the first title in Melissa Tagg's Enchanted Christmas collection.

You can check out that review below:

One Enchanted Christmas

I always wanted to go back and read the other titles in the series, and I finally had the chance to do so.

Today I can't wait to share with you all my review of the second title in this wonderful series, and you can keep reading below to check out my full review.

One Enchanted Eve by Melissa Tagg:

Source: Library

Publisher: Larkspur Press

Publication Date: November 22nd, 2016

Genre: Christian Fiction/Contemporary/Christmas Read

Series: Enchanted Christmas

Synopsis:

A delightful Christmas romance about finding the perfect recipe for love.

After years of mistakes and regret, Colin Renwycke finally has a plan: Hone his baking talent at the Denver Culinary Institute and embark on a new career as a pastry chef. If he's lucky, he might even manage to earn back his family's respect. But despite his skills in the kitchen, Colin's a mess in the classroom and his ongoing disasters are proving too much for his prickly instructor. If he loses his spot at the school, he's out of backup plans.

Culinary school instructor Rylan Jefferson has the chance to reclaim her dream of running her own bakery. But she only has until Christmas Eve to come up with the perfect recipe to impress an eccentric investor. She has no time for holiday parties or family plans . . . and especially not for the unruly student baker who couldn't follow a recipe if his life depended on it.

But Colin has the one ingredient Rylan needs most—talent. Lots of it. And when he makes a proposal that just might solve both their problems, Rylan can't say no—even if it does mean traveling all the way to Iowa. It just might be that the snow-covered plains and a charming small town full of postcard Christmas cheer are exactly what her hungry heart needs . . . along with a man who is much more than he seems.

My Review:

I've honestly been looking forward to reading this one ever since I finished An Enchanted Christmas. Usually I find that novellas are never as good as full length novels, as so much needs to happen in a much shorter word length, and usually romances never seem as well developed. However, Melissa Tagg definitely proved me wrong on this thought process with the first installment in her Enchanted Christmas collection, and I couldn't wait to continue on with the next Renwycke sibling's story.

I do have to say that this one took me a bit longer to get drawn into the story; simply because I didn't really enjoy Colin or Rylan as characters for the first few chapters. However, as they start to let each other in, they really grew on me, and I loved how slow moving and sweet their romance truly was.

I'm always happy for another return visit to Maple Valley, especially at the holidays as it literally seems like the perfect setting for an idyllic made for TV movie. I enjoyed the many cameos from characters from previous Maple Valley novels, and I loved how strong the familial element was within this one. I also appreciated the fact that the faith element is a bit stronger in this one than it was in the first, as there's nothing I love more than Christmas books that truly highlight the true reason for the season.

Overall, this was another beautiful, swoon worthy romance from one of the genre's best, and I definitely enjoyed it. I did end up rating it one star less than I did the first book, as the characters took awhile to grow on me, and I really wished the author had still written from the narrator's POV like she did in the first book. I loved that bit, and I think it would have made this story even better.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Another lovely holiday tale from Melissa Tagg, and I look forward to continuing on with Leigh's story shortly.

Thanks so much for reading guys! I hope you have a great rest of your day :)
