Happy Wednesday Friends :)
I pray today finds you all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.
I've been a fan of Amish fiction ever since I first read Beverly Lewis' The Shunning as a young child, and I've enjoyed devouring titles in this genre ever since.
One of my favorites within this genre is Amy Clipston, and I always look forward to her new book releases.
Today, I'm excited to get to share with you the third book in her An Amish Legacy series.
If you'd like to check out my reviews of the first two titles in the series, you can do so using the links below:
I hope you'll all keep reading down below for today's full review.
Breaking New Ground by Amy Clipston:
Source: Publisher via NetGalley
Publisher: Zondervan
Publication Date: April 11th, 2023
Genre: Christian Fiction/Amish Fiction
Series: An Amish Legacy
Synopsis:
Korey Bontrager and Savannah Zook are just pretending to date—but could their feelings turn into something more?
Korey Bontrager knows he’s been an immature dummkopp. When his widowed dad remarried, Korey was unwelcoming to his kindhearted stepmother. Then he became estranged from his older brother. But after fourteen months in Ohio, God called Korey back to Pennsylvania.
Easier said than done. Back home, Korey feels left behind by his family and friends, who want to see him happily married. Instead of looking for a new relationship, he finds himself spending time with Savannah Zook: the most outspoken maedel he’s ever met. She’s also confident and brave, having raised her younger brother from a young age. And she’s a natural beauty. But, hard as her friends try to convince her otherwise, she has no interest in dating. Her priority is looking out for her bullied brother.
So when Savannah suggests they pretend to date as a way to get her friends—and his family—off their backs, Korey readily agrees. Soon, he can’t imagine life without her. But could Savannah ever truly be part of his future?
Set in the faithful Amish community of Lancaster County, Breaking New Ground gives the most stubborn Bontrager a chance to redeem his story.

My Review:
Amy Clipston is truly one of the queens of Amish fiction, and I couldn't wait to dive into this one. I've been looking forward to another visit with the Bontrager family of Lancaster County, and especially looking forward to Korey finally getting his own story. It was going to take a pretty amazing story to redeem this prodigal son in the reader's eyes, and I'm happy to say that the author managed to deliver exactly that.
Fake dating is one of my all time favorite romance tropes, and I've never had the pleasure of reading an Amish fiction title that's employed this before. When Korey returns home, he's still struggling with the familial troubles that sent him running in the first place, and he's tired of his family and friends trying to push him into dating when he's not ready to chance his heart. Savannah Zook is tired of her friends trying to set her up on blind dates, when all she wants is to be able to watch out for her younger brother. When Korey and Savannah become friends, she proposes they pretend to date to get their friends and families off their backs. Only, neither of them expected the feelings to become real, and both have hurts and insecurities they need to deal with before being able to move forward into their own happily ever after.
Once again, Amy Clipston has delivered a heartwarming, wonderful romance that tugs at the heartstrings and brings tears to the eyes. These characters have truly come to feel like old friends, and I'm so thankful that readers finally got to see another side of Korey, and what was his reason for his actions in the previous titles. The Bontragers truly have come together as a family, and I can't wait to read Jayden's story when it releases next year!
Final Rating: 5/5.
Thanks so much to Zondervan for allowing me to advance read and review this one!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher (Zondervan) via NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.
Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)
