Most Anticipated 2024 Releases: 2023 Reading Wrap Up #1

 Happy New Years Everyone!! :)

Thank you all for another wonderful year in 2023 here on The Preppy Book Princess!

I apologize that I kind of dropped off the face of the planet the last couple of weeks over here, but life has unfortunately dropped quite a few emergencies on my family as of late, and I've been struggling to keep my head above water.

However, I know that all things are possible through Him, and I'm choosing to believe that now more than ever as we move into this new year full of possibilities.

Today I'm happy to be starting the New Year right off the bat by spending some time with you guys, and I'm looking forward to sharing my first of my 2023 reading wrap ups with you all.

I've been doing these for a lot of years, and it's always fun to look back on the previous years' reading, and look forward to this year's to come.

Today to kick things off, I'm going to be sharing my most anticipated releases for 2024!

Let's go ahead and dive right in.

Love in the Storm by Mandi Blake:

Synopsis:

It’s his duty to protect others, but what if he can’t protect his heart?

Lyric has been sober for years now, but nothing about picking herself up from rock bottom has been easy. She’s behind on bills and on the verge of getting evicted. When a snowstorm sneaks up, Lyric gets stranded along with handsome Asa Scott—the same police officer who once arrested her.

Asa isn’t complaining about being stranded with the beautiful Lyric. The kind woman tending his wounds after a wreck in the storm is the first to make him think he could move on after his wife’s death. But he doesn’t recall arresting her ten years ago, and finding out the truth makes him question everything he thought he knew about her.

When Lyric needs his help after they’re rescued, Asa treads carefully. Helping her is fine—letting her into his life and trusting her near his son is another story.

Despite his fears, Asa can’t fight the way he feels about the resilient woman who helped him. But when it looks like Lyric has fallen back into her old ways, will Asa trust the evidence or believe the woman he’s falling for and fight to clear her name?

I can't wait for this one as I always look forward to Mandi Blake's new books, and I'm excited at the prospect of finally reading Asa's story.

Rocky Road by Becky Wade:

Synopsis:

Christy Award Hall of Fame Author

FBI Agent Jude Camden handles every aspect of his job with by-the-book professionalism. There's no reason why his latest assignment—which calls for him to pose as the boyfriend of perfumer Gemma Clare—should be any different.

Except Gemma is different. She's creative, bold, and feisty. And as soon as she meets Jude, she wants to loosen him up, wrinkle his perfect shirts, and test every ounce of his towering self-control.

The FBI has an iron-clad rule against romances between those working together on operations. Jude's never met a rule he didn't respect. But adhering to this one is going to be tough because, as time goes by, he finds Gemma more and more irresistible.

Buckle up! It's going to be a rocky road.

Escape to Maine for this swoon-worthy "fake romance"! Banter, humor, perfume, and a mystery from the past intertwine in this sweet Sons of Scandal love story.

(synopsis from goodreads)

I loved the first title in the Sons of Scandal series, and I can't wait to finally read Jude's story.

For a Lifetime by Gabrielle Meyer:

Synopsis:

Grace and Hope are identical twin sisters born with the ability to time-cross together between 1692 Salem, Massachusetts, and 1912 New York City. As their twenty-fifth birthday approaches, they will have to choose one life to keep and one to leave behind forever--no matter the cost.

In 1692, they live and work in their father's tavern, where they must watch helplessly as the witch trials unfold in their village, threatening everyone. With the help of a handsome childhood friend, they search for the truth behind their mother's mysterious death, risking everything to expose a secret that could save their lives--or be their undoing.

In 1912, Hope dreams of becoming one of the first female pilots in America, and Grace works as an investigative journalist, uncovering corruption and injustice. After their parents' orphanage is threatened by an adversary, they enter a contest to complete a perilous cross-country flight under the guidance of a daring French aviator.

The sisters have already decided which timeline they will choose, but an unthinkable tragedy complicates the future they planned for themselves. As their birthday looms, how will they determine the lives--and loves--that are best for both of them?

The Timeless series is one of my all time favorites, and I was ecstatic when I discovered it was going to be a trilogy instead of a duology like I originally thought. I can't wait to continue on with this series.

The Irish Matchmaker by Jennifer Deibel:

Synopsis:

As daughter of a well-known matchmaker, CatrĂona Daly is no stranger to the business of love--and sees it as her ticket away from the sleepy village that only comes alive during the annual matchmaking festival. Enter Lord Osborne's son, Andrew, who has returned to the festival after being disappointed by a rival matchmaker's failed setup. CatrĂona seizes the opportunity to make a better match for the handsome man--and for herself!

Cattle farmer Donal Bunratty is in desperate need of a wife after loss left him to handle the farm and raise his daughter on his own. Shy and lacking the finer social graces, he agrees to attend the matchmaking festival to appease his daughter. But when he arrives, it's not any of the other merrymakers that catch his eye but rather his matchmaker--who clearly has eyes for someone else.

CatrĂona will have to put all her expertise to work to make a match that could change her life forever. Will her plan succeed? Or will love have its own way?

Jennifer Deibel is another one of my favorite authors, and I've loved every single book she's written. I'm looking forward to another one of her wonderful titles set in Ireland.

Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham:

Synopsis:

Sometimes love means embracing the good, the bad. . . and even the impossible.

Dear Reader --

My name is Luke Edgewood, and there are few things in life that I require. Mainly black coffee. And flannel. And lots of solitude. And my dogs, Chewy and Indie. What I don't need is romance, so I have no plans to change my thirty-year-old bachelor status anytime soon.

But my youngest sister thinks that by accepting a short-term construction job in the small European country of Skymar, that I'm going to follow along in her footsteps and discover my own romantic adventure. Nope. Bah humbug. The End. This time, her rom-com-movie senses are totally wrong.

Or maybe not. Because I've met a Grace Kelly lookalike who is annoying. . . until she isn't. But she is impossible. As in, nothing can happen between us because she is a literal princess. Even though that's easy to forget when we're working together to restore a castle-like orphanage in a secluded mountain town and "forced proximity" includes a small closet, a secret one-hundred-year-old journal, and the tactile memory of an off-limits royal in my arms.

Basically, the whole situation has turned into an ooey gooey magical snow globe of romantic tropes complete with cute kids and an actual ball. Now, even my sentences are starting to sound like mush. Ugh. Send high levels of testosterone my way--I'm going to need it.

Loyally, Luke

(synopsis from goodreads)

I can't wait to read this one! It's probably one of my favorite series of all time, and it's finally time to read Luke's story. This is definitely one of the books I'm the absolute most excited about releasing this year.

The Sleuth of Blackfriars Lane by Michelle Griep:

Synopsis:

Wife. Mother. Homemaker. Detective. Kit Forge wears many hats, and if that's not enough, she's partnered with her father to open a new detective agency. It's hard to be all things to all people, but Kit never shies away from the impossible. Despite her hard work and good intentions, some things fall through the cracks. Namely, her husband. But Jackson barely notices. He's too busy putting out his own fires. As the new chief inspector of a busy London station, he must salvage the disaster left behind by the former police chief--an obstacle made all the harder when the superintendent breathes an ultimatum down his neck. Against her father's advice, Kit takes on a case involving a missing child, one in which she and Jackson become a little too emotionally involved. . .and end up endangering their own little girl in the process. Can Kit and Jackson learn that just because they can say yes doesn't mean they should?

(synopsis from goodreads)

Another series that I loved the first two titles, and can't wait to continue on with the rest. It's definitely an original concept within the Christian fiction market, and I'm looking forward to diving right into this one.

Love Unscripted by Denise Hunter:

Synopsis:

She thought she’d scripted the perfect boyfriend. But she’s convinced that the actor cast to play him doesn’t know a thing about real love. Frustrated with the sad state of her dating life, restaurateur Chloe Culpepper penned a single romance novel featuring the man of her dreams. Upon the book’s publication, the hero resonated with thousands of women, catapulting the book to the top of the bestsellers list and earning the novel a movie option. Chloe is thrilled a production company wants to bring her movie to the big screen and film it right in her hometown, Stillwater Bay, South Carolina. But when the producer casts Liam Hamilton—a notorious Hollywood playboy—for the part of her beloved Ledger, she’s appalled. He’s just like her unfaithful ex-boyfriend—and her duplicitous father. How can Liam possibly understand, much less portray, the wonderful character who captured her heart and made her readers swoon? An embarrassing and contentious first meeting does little to allay Chloe’s fears about Liam. The man hasn’t even read her book! But one thing she she must win him over if she’s to influence his role and save the integrity of her movie. Due to the deceitful tabloids and, okay, some minor commitment issues, Liam Hamilton’s reputation—and career—is in jeopardy. On the advice of his manager and best friend, he offers a bargain with the wholesome author of his upcoming if she will appear in public as his steady girlfriend during the making of the movie, he will take her direction on the role of Ledger. Could a little quid pro quo offer a solution to both of their problems? Or will the bargain cause more trouble than either of them could’ve possibly imagined?

(synopsis from goodreads)

I always adore Denise Hunter's sweet contemporaries, and this one sounds particularly adorable.

Before We Were Us by Denise Hunter:

Synopsis:

She can't remember. He can't forget.

Seven months ago, after graduating with a hospitality degree, city girl Lauren Wentworth travelled to rural New Hampshire to become temporary manager of Pinehaven Lodges, a rustic family-owned resort. What started as just a springboard to her dream job became so much more when she fell in love with the owner's son Jonah, the Landry family, and her simple but rewarding position at the resort. Now she's reaching toward a different kind of future than she'd imagined for herself--and happier than she's ever been. But then she falls from a ladder.

When Lauren wakes up in the hospital, she only recalls her first couple months at the resort. She remembers her adversarial relationship with Jonah and her major crush on small-town doctor, Carson, who also has big-city ambitions--but is, unfortunately, taken. However, according to everyone around her, she's now madly love with Jonah and has forfeited the dream job awaiting her in Boston. It seems impossible to believe she could've made such drastic changes in a matter of months!

Jonah is heartbroken at her memory loss and determined to help Lauren remember the deep feelings they've developed for one another. But Lauren isn't sure she wants to remember falling in love with someone she doesn't even like or giving up her dream career for a rustic resort in Podunk, New Hampshire.

Especially when Dr. Carson is now available. . .
(synopsis from goodreads)
This title sounds amazing! It sounds a little different from Denise Hunter's normal stories, and I think it's probably going to be a wonderful story.
Tracking Tilly by Janice Thompson:

I love that more and more cozy mysteries are starting to pop up within the Christian fiction genre, and I'm looking forward to this wonderful title.
Between Flowers and Bones by Carolyn Leiloglou:
This one doesn't actually even have a cover yet, but I adored the first book in this series (The Restorationists), and I'm very much looking forward to continuing on with the fun middle grade fantasy.
Besides all of these titles, I'm hoping they'll soon be announcements of new titles in many other favorite series like some of my favorite cozy mystery series and maybe some sweet contemporary titles from favorite authors like Debbie Macomboer and Rachael Bloome.

Now I'm sure I'll be adding more and more titles to my list as more release dates are announced, but for the start of the year, I'd say this is already a pretty good amount to be looking forward to. I'll hopefully update as more titles are announced, and I'm hoping that 2024 will be a great reading year after 2023 being a bit of a disappointing one.
I thank you guys all for stopping by today, and I'd love it if you'd drop me a comment below telling me which book releases you're most excited about this year!
Thanks for reading, and let's kick of 2024's reading goals together!
