Hey guys,
I hope you're all having a great week, and discovering lots of amazing books. :)
As I've mentioned in my last couple of posts, I've definitely been having a rough time lately, and so in honor of that, I decided to do a book recommendations post. I thought now would be the perfect time to share some of my favorite books to read when I'm feeling down, and I'd love to hear any of your recommendations as well.
1) The Magic In Manhattan Series by Sarah Mlynowski:
First, let's start out with a comedic recommendation. If I'm a tad down, and I'm in a need of a book that will have me laughing outright, Sarah Mlynowski's Magic In Manhattan series is always a good choice. Rachel's shallow, and a tad selfish personality always lead to hilarious results, thrown in some magic for good measure, and this is a book that I honestly think could brighten anyone's day.
Runner up Recommendations: The Confessions Of Georgia Nicholson series by Louise Rennison and The Season by Jonah and Stephen Dyer.
2) Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins:
Next let's move on to books that give you awesome storytelling, amazing chemistry between the love interests, and a quirky cast of characters that will continue to put a smile on your face.
For this category, I had to without a doubt, go with my all time favorite book, Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. This adorable romance read would put a smile on even the most cynical of hearts, but the quirky sarcastic personalities of the characters is also great for a smile or laugh when you're feeling a tad down.
Runner up Recommendations: The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, and Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier.
3) Undeniably Yours by Becky Wade:
Next, I want to mention inspirational fiction because this is often what I turn to when I need a little bit of a pick me up. Let's officially make this category "inspirational books that will help lift your spirits, and give your faith a boost." And for this category, I have to go with one of my new favorite inspirational authors, and my favorite book by her, Undeniably Yours by Becky Wade. I love the chemistry between these two characters, and the way they learn to rely on each other to help overcome the harsh times they've both had to face. I also love how there's a tiny bit of a suspense element added to it as well.
Runner Up Recommendations: Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke and Winter Brides by Denise Hunter, Deborah Raney, and Betsy St. Amant.
4) Dashing Through The Snow by Debbie Macomber:
My next category would be "a holiday read to help bring a smile to your face." I'm not sure if anyone else ever feels this way, but generally, Christmas always make me feel better. So, it's not uncommon for me to read Christmas novels at all times of the year, and they are one of my favorite things to turn to when I'm having a bad day.
For this category, I'm going to choose Dashing Through The Snow by my all time favorite author, Debbie Macomber. I love this hilarious road trip novel that shows you've got to learn to go with the flow, and it's fastly become one of my all time favorite Christmas novels.
Runner Up Recommendations: The Christmas Secret by Donna VanLiere and Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor by Lisa Kleypas
5) I Want To Go Home by Gordon Korman:
Lastly, I'm going to go with the category of "A Favorite Childhood Book that's reminds you of simpler times."
And without a doubt for that I have to go with, I Want To Go Home by Gordon Korman. I don't think any book can cheer me up the way that hearing about Rudy Miller's mishaps at summer camp can, and I can't wait to introduce my nephew to this book really soon.
Runner Up Recommendations: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner.
That's my book recommendations for when you're feeling down guys! Thanks so much for reading, and I will see you all again on Friday!
