Happy Friday guys!
I hope all your weekends are off to a great start. :) Unfortunately for me, I've been going through some rough stuff this week, and I feel pretty devastated and upset right now, but I thought that possibly sharing a review for this book I recently finished, with all you guys just might help cheer me up

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my review, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Synopsis:
As a teenager, Samantha Carlton used a career in modeling to break free from her painful childhood-walking away from her reckless twin sister, an alcoholic mother, and the boy she loved. Yet she never outran the guilt of abandoning her family. When the past shows up on her doorstep in the form of her late sister's daughter, Sam opens her home and her heart to the girl she never knew existed. But it's not so easy to face the man she left behind....
Sam had shattered Trevor Kincaid's heart, and he'd sought comfort in her sister's arms. But he'd pledged to shield his daughter, Grace, from the drama that followed the Carlton women. Now Grace has tracked down Sam, and Trevor is forced to deal with the one woman he wanted to forget.
History has a way of repeating itself, and the sparks between Sam and Trevor reignite an old flame. But as much as Sam wants a new future, is walking away again easier than risking her heart for a second chance.
Review:
I was instantly intrigued by this book when I found it on Netgalley. The cover is beautiful, I'd never read this particular author before, but always love discovering new authors, and I typically love second chance romance stories. I was ready to dive into an awesome adult contemporary romance, and I was highly anticipating just where this story could go with such an awesome sounding synopsis.
Sam Carlton is a world famous model, who's given up on that lifestyle, and now runs a summer camp that gives troubled teens a chance, when no on else would. A modeling career was what got her out of a horrible home life situation, but it meant walking away from her family, and the only man she'd ever truly loved. She gets the last thing she ever expects when a teenage girl who's the spitting image of her late twin sister shows up on her doorstep. And it opens doors she long thought were closed, when she discovers her niece's father is the same man she always regretted walking away from.
I did find the first parts of this novel to be a tad lackluster, but I really loved Sam's character, and the amazing friends that have become her support system. Jenny, especially, was such a spitfire, and her scenes consistently had me cracking up. Grace was also a character who I found myself really enjoying, as discovering her aunt has her finally getting to know about the side of the family she never knew she had.
However, I only gave this particular novel two out of five stars, and that was all on account of Trevor's character. In my opinion, Trevor was an egotistical jerkwad, and I kept waiting and hoping for Sam to come to her senses, and walk away from him once and for all, which is definitely not the reaction I typically expect to have when I read a romance novel. This book, in my opinion, came dangerously close to promoting an emotional abusive relationship, as Trevor does nothing but knock Sam's spirits down over and over again throughout the course of the story, including calling her a whore for talking to other men, and constantly telling her that the modeling lifestyle may have been good enough for someone like her, but that his daughter is never going near something like that. I may have been able to forgive some of this, if the reader truly saw growth of his character that included correcting these issues, but in my opinion that just never happened, and his character ended up annoying me right until the end.
I thank Montlake Romance for the opportunity to have read this, but unfortunately it just wasn't for me, as I really found myself unable to condone the romance going on throughout this novel.
Thanks for reading guys, and I hope to see you all in my next post.
