Christmas Blessings by Katherine Spencer and Thomas Kinkade Review

Hello Friends :)

We may only be a short while into November, but I'm already well into the holiday spirit. I've been planning my decorating, doing Christmas shopping, and reading lots of holiday themed books.

Every Christmas season I try and read the newest installment in the Cape Light series, however, somehow I never got around to reading the new one last year. I finally got the chance to read it last month, and today I'd like to share what I thought about it with you all.

Christmas Blessings by Katherine Spencer and Thomas Kinkade:

Source: Library

Publisher: Berkley Books

Publication Date: October 24th, 2017

Genre: Christian Fiction/Adult Fiction/Contemporary

Series: Cape Light

Synopsis:

Revel in the spirit of Christmas, and let your heart be an open book with a heartwarming novel set in Thomas Kinkade's charming town of Cape Light...

Shortly before the start of the holidays, successful renovation business owner Sam Morgan has an accident on site that leaves him housebound. The timing could not be worse, as his wife, Jessica, just left her job to run an animal rescue shelter on their property. Now, not only are they without two regular incomes, but Sam has to recoup in the middle of a small zoo. His oldest son, Darrell, a senior in college, assures Sam that he can step in and run the business. But Sam is opposed to Darrell leaving college and doubts his son can fill his work boots.

Meanwhile, Jean Whitman has returned to her childhood home, Cape Light, to care for her ill mother. The relationship between Jean and her mother has never been easy; Jean has never been able to please Cynthia. To build common ground, Jean reopens Cynthia's old bookstore cafe. But what Jean doesn't know is that one of the first customers to walk through the door will change her life forever.

My Review:

Every time I open a Cape Light title, I feel like I'm reconnecting with old friends, and I'm happy to say that I felt the same way with Christmas Blessings. In the eighteenth Cape Light title, Jean has returned home to care for her ailing mother, Darrell has returned home to help out his family after his father's accident, and both are unprepared for just how much influence this charming little town is about to have on their lives.

Darrell and his father are not getting along the best. Sam only wants his son to have the opportunities that he himself never did, but Darrell feels like his father still thinks of him as a child, and doesn't think he's ready to make his own decisions. When he finds an abandoned property that used to be the town's cannery, he takes an immediate interest, and sets out to try and make the property into something that can benefit the whole town. His father feels the project is too ambitious for someone his age, and soon a father/son blowout occurs that really puts a damper on the Christmas festivities.

Jean and her mother have never seen eye to eye, but due to Cynthia's fast deteriorating health, Jean is determined to be the bigger person, and to try and make her mother's last few months comfortable. However, she's unprepared for just how big of a job taking care of her mother truly is, and she's not finding much support from her older brother, Kevin. When a stranger visits her mother's shop one day, she feels an instant connection, but she's scared to trust her heart to someone she's unsure of, especially considering all the turmoil currently in her life.

Both families appear to be entering the Christmas season in a bleak state, but both are also about to be reminded of the importance of faith, family and friends during the season, and how sometimes miracles can happen when we least expect them to. Full of heart warming moments, Reverend Ben's beautiful sermons, cameos from many of Cape Light's beloved citizens, and a blossoming romance, Christmas Blessings is a lovely addition to the Cape Light series, and will leave you with the warm fuzzies, feeling all inspired after finishing it.

Final Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I really hope there's more titles still to come in this lovely series.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day!

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters I'd name a child/cat/dog/car/ etc After.

Happy Tuesday guys! I enjoyed Top Ten Tuesday so much last week, that I decided to go ahead and take part again this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish, and here's the link to the main page if you're interested in becoming a part of it: http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html Today's topic is: Ten Characters I'd Name A Child/Cat/Dog/Car/ etc After, and I think it's going to be a really fun one. First, Characters I'd Name a Pet after: 1) Katsa from Kristin Cashore's Graceling: I have to start with Katsa, since it is actually what we named our adorable black and white kitten almost a year ago. She's grown so much since this picture, but this was taken right after we decided on her name. We tried several different book characters, but Katsa is the one she loved right away, and so is what we ended up going with. 2) Rose from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academ...
