Hello Everyone :)
I hope you're all doing well.
Thank you so much for joining me for another post today here on The Preppy Book Princess.
Today I thought it would be fun to share with all of you some series that I don't plan on finishing. We all have different tastes when it comes to reading, and sometimes series that everyone else seems to love, I just don't. There's been a few instances where I've gone into a series expecting to like it as I've heard so many good things about it, and instead I just end up coming out disappointed.
Here's the series I don't, at this time, plan on finishing.
The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey:
I know so many people who loved this series, and I just didn't. It actually got a rare one star rating from me, mainly because I thought it had way too many viewpoints, and that I almost needed a spreadsheet to keep track of who was who, and which character was currently telling the story. I was also spoiled on a pretty big plot point that happens later in the series, so I really have no urge to ever finish these.
Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard:
I read the first four or so books in this series, and I just didn't like them. I thought they were written very juvenile, and I felt like rolling my eyes at most of the antics that play out throughout them. After finishing the fourth book I think it was, I decided to put myself out of misery, and pick up something I was actually enjoying instead. I have no urge to ever try and finish this series in the future.
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr:
I had this series recommended to me by a few people who said that if you loved Twilight, you'd probably love this one too. I gave the first two books a chance, and I didn't like them. I felt the plot was all over the place, I didn't care for any of the characters really, and I thought they were much darker than I was expecting, and I wasn't really comfortable with it. I have no plans to ever continue reading this series either.
Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder:
I did end up forcing myself to finish this original trilogy, even though I really wasn't that into it, but once I started on the spin off series, and was still hating it, I decided enough was enough. I have no urge to ever read about this world again, and I'm only sorry I didn't give up on it earlier.
The Great Library Series by Rachel Caine:
This one I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'll be continuing on with, but at this point it's leaning more towards not. While I loved the setting and world building, I kind of felt everything else fell flat, and I enjoyed each title less and less. As it's still a few months until the fourth book releases, I'm just not sure if I'll be planning on continuing to read it or not.
Stalking Jack The Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco:
Lastly, is this hugely popular debut series by Kerri Maniscalco. I was a little iffy on this one because I wasn't sure the detailed forensic science parts would be my type of thing, but that actually wasn't the reason I ended up disliking it. I found it so obvious as to who the murderer was, and I didn't really like either of the main characters. I finished this, and knew instantly that I would not be continuing on with the next book in the series.
The Baxter Family series by Karen Kingsbury:
I read the first twenty four books in this series, including the one that's pictured, and I've just decided enough is enough. I'm no longer a fan of the way Karen Kingsbury writes so much about monetary value and wealth and status, and the finish for me was with Bailey Flannigan's character. I know a lot of people list her as their favorite Christian author, but I personally feel that her books are giving a wrong impression of Christianity, and I've decided I won't be reading them anymore. I have no problem with authors writing about rich and famous people, but when it's the only characters they ever write about, and it starts to feel like they're implying that a good Christian will have wealth and status, I feel it's giving a bad impression and I'm choosing to not continue reading them.
That's the series I won't be finishing guys. These are just my own opinions, and I know a lot of these series are truly loved by other readers.
Has there been any popular series that you've decided to dnf on? Were any of the ones I included today on your list too?
Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day, and I'll see you all again soon.
