November Wrap Up 2018

Hello Friends :)

It's officially the start of December, and I'm very much looking forward to the Christmas season. I have so many fun, holiday themed reads to get to this month, and I'm sure that its going to be a great reading month.

However, before I get to reading those, I'd like to share with you all what books I finished in November, and whether or not I ended up enjoying them.

Unfortunately, November was not the greatest reading month for me. We ended up having quite a few people quit at work this last month, and as such, I ended up working way more shifts than is normal for me. On top of that, it seemed I had a lot more stuff outside of work piled on me last month as well, and I just didn't seem to have the free time for reading as much as I usually do.

So far, I'm still on a decent pace to complete my 2018 goodreads reading challenge, so hopefully it stays that way :)

Let's go ahead and get started.

If you're interested in seeing which books I'd actually planned to read this month, you can check out my November 2018 TBR Post.

Wait For Me by Susan May Warren:

My first book of the month was a great one, and I ended up rating it five out of five stars. Wait For Me was an explosive ending to the Montana Rescue series, and I loved it. You can check out my full review here.

Sea Witch by Sarah Henning:

This one I kind of went back and forth as to my opinions on it. I was really excited to finally get to read a Young Adult adaptation that focused on Ursuala's story, as I love the Little Mermaid, but this kind of failed at meeting a lot of my expectations. I still gave it three out of five stars though, and I'll be sharing a full review of it with you all shortly.

Snow In Love by Kasie West, Melissa De La Cruz, Aimee Friedman and Nic Stone:

Sigh, I was so excited for this one, and now I'm so glad that I got it from the library instead of buying it. I gave Kasie West's glorious story five out of five stars. It was utter perfection, and showcased once again why she's one of the most amazing authors ever. Melissa De La Cruz's was also kind of cute and probably would be about a 3.5/5. However, the other two I didn't care for at all, and thought they were both really meh, and now a couple of weeks later I barely even remember what they were even about. I gave this collection three out of five stars because I can't possibly rate a book that has Kasie's name on it any less than that, but I'd recommend skipping this collection honestly.

Woman Of Courage by Wanda E Brunstetter:

I got to advance read this collector's edition release last month, and it was a really powerful story that demonstrates extreme faith, and believing in God no matter what obstacles are thrown your way. Wanda E Brunstetter is fast becoming one of my new favorite authors, and I gave if four out of five stars. You can read my full review here.

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows:

This one was my friend's and my book club read for November, and it was witty, hysterically funny, and a great twist on the historical story. I was really impressed with just how well these three authors wrote together, and I gave it four out of five stars. I'll be sharing my full review of it with you guys shortly.

The Christmas Cat by Melody Carlson:

I had started this one back in January, and I just couldn't get into it, and so I'd set it down and walked away from it. I decided to pick it up again in November, and I'm so glad I did. It was such a lovely holiday story with a beautiful heartwarming message at the center of it, and I rated it five out of five stars.

The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson:

I didn't honestly think I'd enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed The Christmas Cat as I'm not a dog person, but I ended up loving this one just as much. I loved how Melody Carlson portrays how animals can help with loneliness, and each of these stories is so wonderfully done. I gave this one five out of five stars as well.

Christmas Joy by Nancy Naigle:

I really adored this one, and as much as I loved the Hallmark movie, the book was even better. I gave it five out of five stars, and I plan on sharing a full review of it with you guys sometime this month.

The Christmas Pony by Melody Carlson:

This one was a little different from Melody's previous two animal stories as it's a historical fiction novel, and it's also told from the perspective of a child. It was an adorable tale filled with childlike wonder, and I gave it four out of five stars.

12 Days at Bleakly Manor by Michelle Griep:

This was one I was really looking forward to reading as I love Christmas stories, I love historical fiction, and I loved the idea of this being inspired by Charles Dickens. Unfortunately, this one fell a little short of my expectations, and I think it was mainly because It reminded me so much of the movie Clue, that they based off of the beloved board game. I hated that movie, and this book reminded me so much of it, especially with how many characters were mentioned throughout it. I gave it three out of five stars as I did enjoy the setting, the idea behind it, and the two main characters.

Alaskan Holiday by Debbie Macomber:

I always look forward to reading Debbie Macomber's new Christmas release, and as I've always had a bit of a fascination with Alaska, this year's release had me pretty excited. However, this one fell a little flat for me for some reason. I enjoyed the two main characters all right, but I really couldn't stand Jack as a character, and I just didn't get invested in the story. As well, I thought the ending wrapped everything up in a way that didn't quite work for me, and as such, I only gave this three out of five stars, instead of the five star read I'd been anticipating it would be.

And that's all the books I read in November 2018. Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day.

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
