Where Two Hearts Meet by Liz Johnson Review

Hello Bookish Friends :)

I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you for joining me today for another review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

In January, I had the pleasure of reading my first book by author Liz Johnson, and it was truly an amazing experience. I adored The Red Door Inn, and I knew I needed to dive into the second book immediately.

Today I'd like to share my review of the second book with you all.

Where Two Hearts Meet by Liz Johnson:

Evocative Contemporary Romance Set in a Charming Inn on Beautiful Prince Edward Island
In her kitchen at the Red Door Inn, executive chef Caden Holt is calm, collected, and competent. But when her boss asks her to show off their beautiful island to impress a visiting travel writer and save the inn, Caden is forced to face a world much bigger than her kitchen--and a man who makes her wish she was beautiful.
Journalist Adam Jacobs is on a forced sabbatical on Prince Edward Island. He's also on assignment to uncover a story. Instead he's falling in love with the island's red shores and Caden's sweets.
When Caden discovers Adam isn't who she thought he was, she realizes that the article he's writing could do more than ruin the inn's chances for survival--it might also break her heart.
Readers will discover hope for the hurting, joy for the broken, and romance for the lonely at the enchanting Red Door Inn.

My Review:

The Second book in Liz Johnson's Prince Edward Island Dreams is a charming delight, and I could barely bring myself to put it down. The setting is just as beautiful and vividly described as it was in the first book, and I have to be honest and say that I enjoyed Caden as a main character even more than I did Marie in the first book.

Liz Johnson writes her characters in such a relatable way that they start to feel like old friends in no time at all, and I always find myself so invested in the story unfolding, and on the edge of my seat to see where she chooses to take her characters in each story.

Caden's story focuses around her job as executive chef at her best friend's bed and breakfast, and the way her simple life becomes extremely complicated when a traveling journalist becomes a guest at the inn for a few weeks. Adam is not really what Caden was expecting or looking for, but they both feel drawn to each other in a way that neither of them can really explain. Caden's dealing with lots of insecurities about herself, and feels that she could never be the type of woman that Adam deserves or needs in his life.  However, Marie is of the impression that Adam works for a magazine that could help to put their beloved inn in the spotlight, and so she entrusts Caden with the job of helping Adam fall in love with both their island and their inn.

Adam is dealing with his own issues, and isn't really looking forward to having to spend weeks holed up on this island away from where he feels he needs to be. However, he soon finds himself falling for both the island, its people, and Caden. And he's worried how he can do the job he desperately needs to do without sacrificing the lives of the people that have come to mean the world to him.

Adam and Caden's relationship is heartwarming and beautiful, and I enjoyed how it develops slowly and tenderly, and that you can tell it's built on real trust and feelings, and never just on attraction itself. Caden is one of my favorite book characters I've read this year. Mainly because she was so real with her feelings, and was so easy to relate to in the way she struggles to feel like she's truly worthy or deserving of the things she wants in life.

It takes an extremely talented author to create a series where each book is equally amazing, and that's definitely the case with Liz Johnson and her Prince Edward Island Dreams series. I am very much looking forward to picking up the next book, and seeing what's in store next for the lovely residents of the Red Door Inn.

Final Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I can't recommend this one enough, and I highly suggest picking it up!
