Books To Read On The Beach This Summer

Good Morning Everyone :)

How has everyone's week been so far?

Mine has definitely had it's ups and downs, but I'm hopeful that the rest of the week is going to be good.

One thing in particular happened to me this week that's extremely exciting.

After being on NetGalley for about five years, I finally received my first auto approval!

I can't even begin to express how excited and thankful I feel for this opportunity, especially since it's from one of my all time favorite publishers, Thomas Nelson.

When I first started my blog back in September of 2015, I really wasn't sure how everything was going to go with it, and I'm so thankful and so blessed for all the opportunities and friendships that have come my way because of it.

I want to thank each and everyone of you who has taken the time to visit my little space on the web, and taken the time to read some of my thoughts on the many books I consume in my free time. You guys all mean the world to me!

For today's post, I thought it would be fun to do a book recommendations post as it's been quite awhile since I last did one of these.

Do any of you have fun vacation plans for the summer? Or are you more like me who isn't going away anywhere fabulous, but will be visiting a local beach a few times throughout.

Whichever side you're on, today I'm going to share my picks for ten books that would make excellent beach reads this summer!

On a Summer Tide by Suzanne Woods Fisher:

What could be a better beach read than a story of sisterly love, a family learning to grow back together after grief, and the promise of more adventures to come since this is a first book in a series. On top of all of that, it's set on an island that the family patriarch has recently purchased, and it includes a small scale mystery that makes it that much more appealing. See my full review here.

The Secrets of Paper and Ink by Lindsay Harrel:

Bookstores, journeys to find yourself, and breathtaking love stories round out this beautiful story from one of my favorite authors, Lindsay Harrel, and it would also make a fantastic read to curl up with in the sun. Check out my full review here.

Anna andhe French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins:

If young adult contemporaries are more your jam, than look no further than one of my all time favorite novels. This particular title includes a Paris setting, a romance that starts off as a friendship, and an electric cast of secondary characters. This was also the first ever review I did for my blog, and you can find that here.

(note that this title is not a Christian fiction title)

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han:

I know that everyone's read and loved To All The Boys I've Loved Before by this author, including myself, but very few people have recognized the amazingness of Jenny's first young adult trilogy. Set in a jersey beach community, this tells the story of Belly and the two sons of her mom's best friend who's she's grown up every summer around. However, as teenagers feelings begin to change between the three of them, and Belly soon learns that love truly complicates anything and everything.

(note that this title is not a Christian fiction title)

Waterfall by Lisa T Bergen:

If time travel reads are your type of beach read, than I must recommend this fantastic series by Lisa T Bergen. Apart from being about time travel, it also features two amazing heroines who are also sisters, two dashing love interests, a strong familial bond, and it's all set in Italy which makes it that much better. You can read my full review here.

Looking for some books that are less light hearted and deal with more serious issues? Look no further than the following:

This particular one is one of the best portrayals of grief I've ever seen in fiction, and I love it.

This amazing title by Jenny B Jones is one of my favorite books of all time, and does a really realistic job of showcasing just what grief can to do to someone. It also features one of my favorite tropes of all time-the famous person falling for the regular person-and puts a huge emphasis on the faith element. You can find my full review here.

And last but not least, if you're the type of beach reader that reaches for the scary thrillers, here's a couple of great ones to get you started:

Try this fantastic debut novel by Natalie Walters. You can read my full review here.

or, try a title by one of my all time favorite suspense authors, Jaime Jo Wright:

Each title is equally amazing, and I can guarantee that whichever one you choose, you'll be on the edge of your seat the entire time. Check out my review here, here and here.

I'd love to hear what books you guys plan on reading on the beach this year! Let me know in the comments which titles will be coming with you!

Thanks so much for reading guys, and have a great rest of your day. :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

First Line Friday: Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake

Happy Friday Friends :) There's so many reasons I'm excited that it's once again Friday. I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything. Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
