Bookish Gift Guide 2019

Happy Friday Everyone :)

The first week of December is almost over, and it's getting to crunch time for finishing up all your Christmas shopping.

I finished the last of mine on Wednesday, and now I've got a pile of things that need to be wrapped, and I'm anxiously awaiting packages I ordered to get here in the mail.

I thought for today's post, I'd like to do something a little different. I thought it would be fun to do a bookish gift guide for the book lovers in your life this holiday season. I've got ten items to share with you all today, and hopefully it will give those of you that still have some shopping left to do some ideas.

A Signed Copy of their Favorite Book:

What's more exciting for a booklover then getting a copy of a book that is signed by their favorite author. Indigo always has a section of signed books on their website, and I've gotten a few from here before. They're usually not priced higher than the regular book is and it just makes it extra special. Plus, I know several other bookstores do this too like Barnes and Noble.

Fandom Merch:

If the person you're buying for has a particular book or series that they're particularly in love with, then getting them some merchandise from that particular fandom is a great gift. I for one love both Narnia and Harry Potter, among many others, and I love getting items themed to these two series. One of my favorite places to buy fandom merch from is Kay Pop Art Studio. She has so many amazing products to choose from, and I've already purchased a couple of Christmas gifts from her this year. You can also usually find awesome ideas on etsy, and at stores like Hot Topic.

Bookish Signs, or other Bookish Decor:

Chances are if the person you're buying for loves books, then they probably also love making this fact known around their house. Giving them a sign with a cute saying like "reading is my superpower" or "just one more chapter" would make a great gift, and they're also easy to find. I've seen these signs everywhere: walmart, chapters, winners, marshalls, homesense, the hallmark store, etsy. Plus, if you're trying to make your gift more budget friendly, then you can also make this a diy gift, and make the sign yourself. I have a gorgeous sign hanging in my library that my best friend painted for me for Christmas one year, and I love it. Plus, if they happen to also be a Bookstagrammer, they make awesome photo props as well.

Reading Socks:

I can't do a bookish gift guide without including reading socks. These socks are a little on the pricey side, but they're honestly worth every penny. Curling up with a great book in my warm socks is one of my favorite things to do ever, and I love so many of Indigo's sock designs this year. Plus, they quite often put these on really great sales if you watch closely. Find them here.

A Journal or Day Planner:

A lot of us book lovers are also writers. Whether that be in the form of current authors, aspiring authors, book reviewers, bloggers, etc. Giving a journal or day planner as gift is a meaningful gift that showcases you were thinking about them. It's nice to have a dedicated book to keep all your writing together in one place, and this gift can really be as expensive or as budget friendly as you need since there is so many different types of journals and notebooks to choose from.

Bath Tub Reading Tray:

If you're looking to spend a little bit more on a gift, then my ultimate recommendation would be one of these gorgeous wooden bathtub reading trays. I personally would love one of these, and once again, they make a great prop for bookstagram photos. I think any book lover would be thrilled to receive one of these for Christmas. Find this one here.

Cozy Reading Night Gift Basket:

I'm going to share one of the gifts I'm actually giving this year as my next gift idea. I'm not saying who it's for, just in case they happen to be reading this post, but I am giving one of my friends or family a reading basket this year. I bought a book I thought they'd enjoy and a basket, and then I filled it with fun things to enjoy with the book. I'm including hot chocolate, fuzzy socks, bath salts, gourmet cookies, a cute coffee mug, and a candle. I'm particularly proud of this gift, and I'm going to make a tag to put on it that will say enjoy your cozy reading night.

Fandom Tea:

It seems to me that a lot of bookish people are also tea drinkers, like myself, and I love giving fun fandom themed teas out as Christmas gifts. In particular, I love Tea Hippies on Etsy.  They have Harry Potter teas, they have Grisha teas, they have Jane Eyre tea. They have such a wide variety, and they include many different movie and TV shows teas as well within their shop. They taste amazing, and the price is extremely reasonable.

Book Cover Necklace:

Etsy has so many talented artists, and a lot of different shops throughout the website feature necklaces or bracelets of book covers. It literally looks like you're wearing a teeny tiny version of your favorite book around your neck or wrist.

Bookmarks:

My last pick may be a bit of a cliche one, but I still think it's a great choice. If you're looking for a more affordable choice, then look no further than giving bookmarks. There is so many different ones to choose from nowadays. And if you went the traditional route and bought your person a novel for Christmas, then give them a fun bookmark with it, to really set your gift apart.

And that's all my gift ideas for you guys today. I want to thank you all for joining me today on The Preppy Book Princess, and I hope you all have a great weekend. :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest
