Never Mind Book Tag

Hello Everyone :)

I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another post here on The Preppy Book Princess.

As it is officially December, are you getting ready for Christmas? I've checked quite a bit off of my to do list, but of course I still have a long list that's yet to be completed.

This past weekend was time for one of my favorite Christmas traditions-attending the Christmas performance at a Bible college that my hubby and I take in with my parents every year. It was a fantastic start, as always, to the holiday season, and definitely got us even more into the Christmas spirit. That night, My mom, sister and I ended up getting together to watch Candace Cameron Bure's new Hallmark Christmas movie, and it was the perfect way to spend the first weekend of December.

In the weeks to come, I will have lots of fun Christmassy content on my blog, but for today's post I'm going to do a fun book tag that I've seen circulating a few other book blogs lately.

It's called the Never Mind Book Tag, and it was created by readinginfinitely over on Youtube. You can check out her original video here. This tag focuses around books that you've changed your mind about since you first read them, and it seems like a fun one.

A Book You Rated High But Have Now Changed Your Mind and/or A Book You've Rated Low and Changed Your Mind:

I first read Beastly by Alex Flinn about ten years ago, and I loved it. I was mesmerized by this quirky Beauty and the Beast retelling, and I ended up rating it five stars. A few months ago, I decided to give this one a reread, and my opinions have definitely changed. While I still enjoyed it, and I still think it's a cute story overall, it's definitely no longer a five star read for me. It's written more juvenile than I'd remembered, and I wasn't a huge fan of the main character for the better part of the story.

A Book You Bought Because Of The Cover But Might Not Read:

I bought this one from the bargain table at Chapters quite a few years ago as I thought the cover was beautiful, and I love time travel novels. However, it's literally sat in my closet ever since, and I honestly have no idea what it's even about. I'm not going to say I'm never going to read it, as so far it's survived the few book unhauls I've done since, but it's definitely not high on my priority list. And I honestly don't know if it ever will be.

A Book You Constantly Put On Your TBR But Can't Seem To Get To:

I can't even remember how many times I've placed Throne of Glass on my monthly TBR, and then never actually ended up reading it. I hope to change this fact soon, as I really do want to read this series, but it has yet to actually happen.

A Hyped Book You Aren't Sure You're Interested In:

Everyone I know who's read this one has loved it, but I don't think it'll ever be one that I personally end up reading. While I loved The Fault In Our Stars, I've honestly disliked every single other one of John Green's books, and I'm kind of scared that I'd end up feeling the same about this one.

A Book You DNF'D:

Continuing on with the John Green theme, this is one of the very few books I've actually DNF'd. I was miserable through the first few chapters, and finally decided to free myself of this awful book that I wasn't even slightly enjoying. It was extremely disappointing as I'd heard such great things about it, but it just didn't work for me.

A Book You Were Loving Until The Ending Made You Think Twice and/or A Book You Weren't Sure You Liked Until Its Epic Ending:

I was enjoying this one all in all, but when the ending came along it honestly turned a good book into a great book. The ending is completely mind blowing, and definitely had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the release of the third and final book in the trilogy.

A Series You Were Loving And Then Decided Not To Continue and/or A Series You Weren't Sure About But Now Want To Continue:

I can't say I loved the first two books in this series, but I did enjoy them overall. However, as I read further into the series, I really wasn't a fan of where the author was going with the story line, and I started to find each title kind of lackluster and boring. I don't personally plan on continuing on with this series.

A Genre You Used To Like But Now Don't Read, and/or A Genre You Used To Not Read But Now Love:

I still read most of the same genres I've always read, but I used to occasionally pick up a new adult title, and I don't really do this anymore. I'm not a fan of the content, I can't stand how most of them are about bad boys falling for good girls, and I think a lot of them don't have much in the way of a plot besides the sexual chemistry between the two main characters. Also, I find the cheating trope is more common throughout this genre than most others, and I can't stand it.

A Character You Changed Your Mind About (Either Good or Bad):

I first started reading about Bailey Flanigan in Karen Kingsbury's original Baxter Family series. Back then, I thought she seemed like a pretty good role model for Christian girls everywhere, and didn't really notice anything problematic about her character. However, as I read further and further into these books, and finally read her series, I completely changed my mind. I couldn't tolerate Bailey's perfection in each and every title, and how she watches all her friends make colossal mistakes, but she stays perfect and never is even tempted to do something she shouldn't. Even worse, is the fact that the way her story is written gives the message that if you too are the perfect Christian then you'll become rich and famous, as anyone who follows God's path is guaranteed fame and success. I've personally chosen not to read any more of this author's books because of this wrong set notion of Christianity, and it bothers me even more that Bailey Flanigan is apparently modeled after her own daughter.

And those are the books I've changed my opinions about!

I tag any of you who are interested in doing this, and if you do take part or if you already have, let me know in the comments as I'd love to check out your post as well!

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)
