First Line Friday: So Over My Head

Happy Friday Everyone :)

I hope you've all had a great week, and that your weekend is off to a wonderful start.

I want to thank you all for joining me for another edition of First Line Friday, which is hosted by the lovely Hoarding Books.

The past couple of weeks, I've been reading and loving the Charmed Life Mysteries by Jenny B Jones. They're funny, they're light hearted, and I really enjoy the character growth that Bella has shown since the start of the novel.

I finished the third and final book at the start of this week, and I thought it was only fitting to use that title as my choice for this week's first line.

Publisher: Thomas Nelson

Publication Date: May 3rd, 2010

About the Book:

Newly single, stalked by a killer, and in desperate need of some chic clown shoes--Bella is one skinny mocha frapp away from total meltdown. When the Fritz Family Carnival makes its annual appearance in Truman, Bella's keen reporter instincts tell her the bright lights hide more than they reveal. Her suspicions are confirmed when one of the stars is murdered. Though the police make an immediate arrest, Bella doubts this case is quite that simple. She needs her crime-solving boyfriend, Luke, more than ever. Problem is, his ex-girlfriend has moved back to town, giving Bella some murderous thoughts of her own. Then again, there's no time for a relationship crisis when Bella's doing her best to derail her father's wedding and stay one step ahead of a killer. Is God sending her a message in all of this madness? With a murderer on the loose and her boyfriend's ex on the prowl, this undercover clown has never had more to juggle--or more to risk.

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed the final Charmed Life novel, and I thought it was a pretty good wrap up to Bella's journey. I thought she showed a lot of character growth throughout the series, and I was happy to see her truly accepting her new life in Truman, and falling in love with her new family. Her and Luke were adorable as always, and I truly love Ruthie as a character. She's hilarious, and is truly such a great friend to Bella. I loved this series, and I'm looking forward to reading Jenny B Jones' other young adult novels in the future since I've only read this series and There You'll Find Me. I honestly think she has an amazing talent for showcasing what it's like to be a Christian teen, and they are truly some of the best novels on the market for Christian teen girls today. I'm obviously not the intended audience, but I still really enjoyed them.

First Line:

"If my love life were the knife toss at a circus, I'd have Luke Sullivan speared to the wall with an apple in his mouth."

What novel are you currently reading and enjoying? Leave the first line in the comments below, and then hop on over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by everyone, and have a great rest of your weekend :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
