First Line Friday: The Happy Camper

Happy Friday Everyone :)

I pray this week finds you all safe and healthy.

As I've been spending so much more time at home than normal, I've also been finishing a lot more books.

One of my favorites I finished this week was The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson, and so I decided to feature it for today's First Line Friday post.

If you're unfamiliar with First Line Friday, it's a weekly meme hosted by Hoarding Books where you simply share the first line of the book you're currently enjoying.

The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson:

About The Book:

Home is the place to heal, right? At least, that's what Dillon Michaels is hoping as she leaves her disappointing career and nonstarter love life behind to help her grieving and aging grandfather on his small Oregon farm. The only problem? Her eccentric mother beat her there and has taken over Dillon's old room. After a few nights sleeping on a sagging sofa, Dillon is ready to give up, until she receives an unlikely gift--her grandfather's run-down vintage camp trailer, which she quickly resolves to restore with the help of Jordan Atwood, the handsome owner of the local hardware store.

But just when things are finally beginning to run smoothly, Dillon's noncommittal ex-boyfriend shows up with roses . . . and a ring.

My Thoughts:

I've read and enjoyed many of Melody Carlson's books in the past, so I was looking forward to reading this one. However, I wasn't prepared for just how much I was going to end up liking it. The Happy Camper is a beautiful story about a woman who ends up returning home after losing both her job and her boyfriend. Along the way she discovers the importance of family, and what truly matters in life isn't the material things. I loved this story, and can't possibly recommend it enough. The relationship between Dillon and her grandfather is heartwarming and beautiful, and I never wanted to see the story come to an end.

First Line:

"Dillon Michaels was fed up-but it wasn't with dinner."

What book are you currently reading? Be sure and leave the first line in the comments, and then hop on over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating this week.

Have a great rest of your weekend guys, and Happy Reading! :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you've had time to curl up with some great books. First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
