Happy Good Friday Everyone :)
Easter definitely feels a bit different this year, as our church service is going to have to be online this year, and we obviously won't be having our traditional family get togethers.
However, I still look forward to spending time studying scriptures, watching services online, and celebrating the fact that truth could never stay buried in a grave.
I'm really excited for this week's edition of First Line Friday as I personally loved the read I'm going to share today, and I'm hoping many of you will too.
The Truth in Tiramisu by Rachael Bloome:
About the Book:
Eliza Carter can't keep a secret.
Except the one she's been hiding for over eight years.
And it's not the recipe for her world-famous tiramisu.
With her bakery undergoing a remodel, her son struggling in school, and planning her best friend's wedding, Eliza's secret is the last thing on her mind. Until her high school sweetheart reappears, stirring up old feelings faster than her electric mixer.
Grant Parker can't forget the girl he left behind. On the cusp of landing a huge client for his web design business, he's willing to risk it all for a second chance with his first love. And maybe a second helping of her mouthwatering desserts.
When Grant offers to help Eliza create an online store for her unique, new business idea, and spends time with Eliza and her son, the stakes rise faster than a loaf of yeast bread.
But when Eliza's secret is revealed, can their love survive the truth? Or will they both end up getting burned?
Grab a warm-from-the-oven cookie (or two) and swoon over delicious desserts and a sweet-as-pie love story about hope, forgiveness, and second chances.
*** Includes one-of-a-kind recipes***
This is the second book in the Poppy Creek series. It can be read as a standalone novel, but is much more fun when read in order.
My Thoughts:
This was honestly one of the books I was most excited about releasing this year, and it was everything I was hoping for and more. Poppy Creek is as idyllic as ever, I loved getting sneak glimpses into Cassie and Luke's continuing story, and Eliza and Grant's story definitely pulls at the heartstrings. I read this one almost entirely in one sitting, as it was just that good and I couldn't put it down.
First Line:
"Every time Eliza Carter closed her eyes, she saw his face."
What book are you currently reading? Be sure and share the first line in the comments below, and then hop on over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating this week.
I hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend celebrating the true reason for the season, and that you find lots of quality reading time.

Happy Friday and Happy Reading!
My book this week is THE HOUSE AT THE END OF THE MOOR by Michelle Griep.
ReplyDeleteMarch 1861 Dartmoor Prison, Devon, England
Death prowled the cell block like a dark animal seeking prey— especially the weakest.
Happy Friday!
DeleteI've heard really great things about The House at the End of the Moor, and that's a very intriguing first line.
Thanks for sharing, and have a great Easter weekend :)
Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteToday I'm sharing from chapter 27 in The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson.
"Still needing to get groceries for tonight's dinner with Jordan, Dillon was tempted to skip the Silver Slipper altogether."
Hope you have a great Easter weekend. 🙂❤đź“–

ReplyDeleteToday on my blog I shared the first line from The Lost Lieutenant by Erica Vetsch but I'm currently reding The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck by Bethany Turner so I'll share the first line from chapter 11 here: "Since our Sunday lunch had been so rudely interrupted by, you know…reality, Ben and I decided our first date called for a do-over." Happy reading!
Happy Friday!
DeleteI haven't personally heard of The Lost Lieutenant, but I really enjoyed The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck when I read it last year.
Thanks so much for sharing, and I hope you have a great Easter weekend. :)
Happy Saturday! Today, I'm sharing the first line from Before I Called You Mine by Nicole Deese: "If Obsessive Email Checking Disorder were a disease, I was likely already in the final stages: trigger thumb, mindless refreshing, aimless scrolling, and of course, an inability to focus on anything else in the entire world."
