Come Back to Me by Jody Hedlund Review

 Happy Monday Friends :)

I hope you all had a great weekend, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

Before I dive into the review however, I want to make a little bit of an exciting announcement.

I've been reading a lot of books over the last few months, and as such, I have a lot of saved book reviews on my computer that I never seem to get around to posting. With how many review books I share, I don't always get a chance to share my saved reviews over the span of my three posts a week. That's why I've decided that for this week, I'm going to be doing daily posting. So instead of my usual three posts, this week you will all get seven!

I haven't done daily posting since Blogmas 2017 I think? So this is going to be a fun thing to do this week, and I hope you'll all enjoy.

Let's go ahead and dive right into Monday's review.

Come Back to Me by Jody Hedlund:

Source: Publisher as Part of the Revell Reads Blogger Program

Publisher: Revell

Publication Date: June 1st, 2021

Genre: Christian Fiction/Time Travel

Series: Waters of Time

Synopsis:

The ultimate cure that could heal any disease? Crazy.

That's exactly what research scientist Marian Creighton has always believed about her father's quest, even if it does stem from a desire to save her sister Ellen from the genetic disease that stole their mother from them. But when her father falls into a coma after drinking a vial of holy water believed to contain traces of residue from the Tree of Life, Marian must question all of her assumptions. He's left behind tantalizing clues that suggest he's crossed back in time. Insane. Until Marian tests his theories and finds herself in the Middle Ages during a dangerous peasant uprising.

William Durham, a valiant knight comes to Marian's rescue and offers her protection . . . as his wife. The longer Marian stays in the past, the more she cares about William. Can she ever find her father and make it back to the present to heal her sister? And when the time comes to leave, will she want to?

Bestselling author Jody Hedlund is your guide down the twisting waters of time to a volatile era of superstition, revolts, and chivalry in this suspenseful story.

My Review:

I've long adored time travel novels, and when I heard that Jody Hedlund was going to be releasing one in the Christian fiction genre, I literally couldn't wait to read it. This beautiful story was everything I was hoping for and more, and I'm so glad this is going to be a series as I'm not ready to say goodbye to this world or these characters.

I've read a lot of books that feature time travel over the years, and I can honestly say that Come Back to Me is my new favorite. Will and Marian's story is both heart wrenching and heartwarming at the same time, and I can guarantee that any reader who chooses to pick this one up is going to have a hard time putting it down.

As it revolves around our female protagonist (Marian) traveling back in time to the Middle Ages, it involves lots of historical components, and I loved the fact that I learned many things I didn't know about this time period, while never coming across as boring or convoluted.

I adored how the entire time travel element is tied into The Tree of Life from Genesis, and this is definitely one of the most unique ways I've ever seen an author approach this setting.

I honestly adored everything about this story, and I never wanted to see it end. I loved the characters, the plot, the suspense, the time travel, the setting, the history, the romance, the faith elements; everything was just fantastically put together, and exactly what I was hoping for when I first heard about it.

I can't possibly recommend this one enough, and book two has officially become my most anticipated 2022 release!

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much to Revell for allowing me to read and review this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher (Revell) as part of the Revell Reads Blogger Program in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! I look forward to sharing a new review with you all tomorrow :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...
