Love Finds You in Mackinac Island, Michigan by Melanie Dobson Review

 Hello Friends :)

If you've been reading my blog the last few months, then you probably have heard me talk about my recent fascination with Mackinac Island. There's something about this beautiful island that completely intrigues me, and I'd love to be able to visit there someday.

Since traveling across the USA border is not an option right now, I've been enjoying reading books that are set on Mackinac Island.

This is part three of my series highlighting books taking place on this island, and I hope to share one more of these posts with you soon.

If you're interested in reading the first two parts of the series, click the links that follow:

Let's go ahead and jump into part three.

Synopsis:

Near the end of the Gilded Age, Elena Bissette’s family has decided to spend one last summer at their fashionable home on Mackinac Island. They've lost their family fortune, and Mrs. Bissette hopes to arrange a marriage between Elena and an elusive millionaire named Chester Darrington.

Elena quickly tires of the extravagant dinners and masquerade balls, preferring to spend her evenings watching the stars in an abandoned lighthouse. There she meets Chase, a handsome stranger who shares her love for the night sky. Together they begin working to solve a mystery buried in the pages of a tattered diary until Chase unmasks what seems to be the ultimate masquerade.

Legacy of Love is a series of historical romance novels based on the courageous people and significant events that wove together the rich tapestry of America’s freedom and faith. The print version of Masquerade is available online under its original title of Love Finds You in Mackinac Island, Michigan.

My Review:

I've become quite fascinated with the beautiful Mackinac Island as of late, and since I don't see myself being able to travel there for quite some time, I've instead been working my way through some of the books set on the island. I've really enjoyed all the previous titles I've read in the Love Finds You series, and I was quite excited to learn that one of the titles was set on Mackinac. Of all the books I've read so far on this journey, Love Finds You in Mackinac Island, Michigan is my favorite. I loved this charming story that tells of society's expectations, mistaken identities, and trusting your heart even when it seems impossible to do so.

This was my first experience with a Melanie Dobson novel, and I adored it. I was wrapped up into the story right away, and could barely bring myself to put it down. Elena and Chase's romance doesn't start in the most typical of ways, and both end up almost living a double life to avoid the lifestyle that their family members keep pushing towards them. When they despise who they believe each other to be, but fall for each other under false pretenses about who the other truly is, a romance develops that may be too complicated for either to sort out.

Told amidst the backdrop of Mackinac Island and the beautiful Grand Hotel, Love Finds You in Mackinac Island, Michigan has ended up being one of my favorite reads of the year so far. I love when a Christian fiction novel is truly able to stand out from the rest, and this one does so beautifully. Even though part of the plot was a little predictable, I did still really enjoy how everything comes together, and I think that Melanie Dobson is truly a gifted storyteller.

If you love Christian historical fiction, this is definitely the book for you! I can't recommend it enough.

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day:)
