No Good Tea Goes Unpunished by Bree Baker Review

Good Morning Friends :)

I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

A little while back, I shared my review of the first book in Bree Baker's Seaside Café Mystery series. You can read that review here. I really enjoyed it, and I've honestly enjoyed most of the books she's published whether it be under her real name or her various pen names. I was looking forward to diving into the second book in the series, and today I'm excited to share with you all what I ended up thinking about it.

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Series: Seaside Café Mystery

Synopsis:

Don’t marry into murder...

Catering her childhood friend’s beachfront wedding was a dream come true for Everly Swan—and, with hundreds of guests in attendance, great exposure for her new iced tea shop and café. But when the well-to-do groom is found floating facedown in the surf, the locals of Charm, North Carolina turn their suspicions on his new bride. Could she have been so desperate to lay hands on his fortune that she arranged for his murder even before they set off on their honeymoon?

Everly knows her lovestruck friend couldn’t be behind the murder, but with clues pointing in several directions, she can’t decide which wedding guest is the most likely culprit. Meanwhile, the frustratingly handsome Detective Hays has made it clear that Everly should stay out of the investigation altogether. But with a killer on the loose and a feeling that someone is watching her café very closely, Everly knows that if she can’t solve this murder soon, her cake might be iced for good.

My Review:

No Good Tea Goes Unpunished is the second installment in Bree Baker's Seaside Café Mystery series, and I enjoyed it every bit as much as I did the first.

I love the setting of this particular series, as who wouldn't love a cozy mystery series set at the beach and a quaint but quirky local iced tea shop. Everly Swan once again finds herself in the midst of a murder mystery after the groom of her  childhood friend Judy is murdered at their wedding reception which Everly has agreed to cater. Of course, Everly being Everly, she's not content to sit back and let detective Hayes do his job, and it comes at the expense of her personal safety when she once again finds herself in the clutches of a dastardly evil mastermind who will stop at nothing to silence her for good. Plus, as if that wasn't enough for Ms. Swan to have to deal with, the no good cowboy who epically broke her heart has suddenly made a reappearance in Charm, and she's no way ready to deal with him on top of everything else.

With a non-stop mystery, more romantic developments between Everly and Grady, and a whack load of all the colorful characters that make Charm such an interesting place to live, No Good Tea Goes Unpunished is another entertaining and enjoyable mystery by one of the genre's best. I especially loved the segments about Everly's elderly aunts filming their dystopian beepocalypse film as it was both hilarious and heartwarming to read about. And I'm really looking forward to trying out the included recipes when I get the chance to do so.

This is definitely another winner for me, and I look forward to continuing on with the series in the very near future.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...
