Deadly Secrets on Mackinac Island by Cara C. Putman Review

 Hello Friends :)

I hope you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me today on The Preppy Book Princess.

It's Good Friday today, and my prayer for you all today is that you would all take a moment to reflect on what Jesus' sacrifice truly means for us all. May the Lord work in amazing ways in your life over this Easter weekend. :)

A couple of weeks ago, I had shared with you all a review of a cozy mystery set on the beautiful Mackinac Island. I also talked quite a bit of how I've come to be slightly fascinated by this island lately, and I've discovered a few books all set there.

Today I'm excited to share with you the second of my reviews of the books set on Mackinac Island. I hope to have a few more of these reviews to share with you in the upcoming weeks, if time permits.

Let's jump into today's.

My Review:

Being as this one was written by Cara Putman and set on Mackinac Island, I was really expecting to enjoy it. While there were many things I did end up enjoying about it, I have to be honest and say that it ended up not being quite what I was expecting.

I did think the setting was really well done, and I liked how the mystery was all connected with the tragedy that had sent Alanna running from the island in the first place. However, I found that most of the mystery was pretty easy to put together, and I'd honestly figured the whole thing out pretty early on.

I also had quite a few issues with both Alanna and Jonathan as characters, and I never really found myself warming up to either one of them. They both had an extremely juvenile side to them, that seemed kind of implausible for the situations they were finding themselves in. Furthermore, I really disliked the fact that Jonathan was in a relationship off and on for the majority of the book, and I really didn't think that either him or Alanna truly respected that fact. Considering the mystery and the romance were the main chunk of the story, and I wasn't that invested in either; it's probably not surprising that this one didn't end up being a new favorite.

Overall,  Deadly Secrets on Mackinac Island was an easy read and I'm glad I picked it up, but it won't be a reread for me in the future, and it's definitely not my favorite of the books by this author.

Final Rating: 3/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)
