The View From Coral Cove by Amy Clipston Review

 Good Morning Everyone :)

I pray your week is off to a great start, and I want to thank you for joining me here on The Preppy Book Princess for another book review.

Today's review is another exciting one for me because it's another title from my list of my 2022 most anticipated releases.

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, then you probably already know that Amy Clipston is one of my all time favorite authors, and I always love getting to read her heartwarming and beloved stories.

Today's review is going to be of her upcoming contemporary release, and I can't wait to share with you all what I ended up thinking about it.

Keep reading below for my full review.

The View From Coral Cove by Amy Clipston:

Source: Publisher via NetGalley

Publisher: Thomas Nelson

Publication Date: May 10th, 2022

Genre: Christian Fiction/Clean Fiction/Contemporary

Synopsis:

When a jilted romance novelist escapes to a small beach town, the last thing she expected to find was the start of an even better love story.

In the wake of a broken engagement and the death of her last surviving family member, romance novelist Maya Reynolds moves to the haven of Coral Cove, North Carolina, to take over her great-aunt’s toy store. Some of her grief is immediately eased by imaginative eight-year-old Ashlyn Tanner, who talks her into adopting a kitten and inspires Maya to create a princess tea-party room in the store.

Ashlyn’s dad, local veterinarian Brody Tanner, is quickly smitten by the newest resident of his hometown. As a single parent, he sacrifices a lot in order to give Ashlyn the world, so a romantic entanglement with Maya is not a distraction he is looking for.

As the three develop a deepening bond in the seaside town where Maya experienced some of her happiest childhood memories, clouds cast a shadow over Maya’s hope for the future: an impossible deadline looms over her next novel, a long-held secret by her late mother about Maya’s absent father comes to light, and Brody’s resolve to avoid romance seems unbreakable.

But together, they just might discover that sometimes happy endings happen outside the pages of Maya’s novels too.

My Review:

Amy Clipston is one of my all time favorite authors, and I've read and loved many of her Amish fiction titles over the years. The contemporary genre is still a relatively new endeavor for her, and I had really enjoyed her first release within this genre last year. The View From Coral Cove sounded like a sweet, heartwarming romance, and I loved the idea of it being set in a seaside town, and that the main character Maya was a best selling author. I couldn't wait to dive right into this one, and I have to say that I honestly ended up enjoying it even more than I did her first contemporary release.

The plot was well paced, and kept me engaged right through. Maya is a likeable protagonist, and I thought all her struggles were presented authentically, and I definitely found myself sympathizing with her over everything she was going through. The romance is definitely slow burn, and I loved that. The reader gets to see Maya and Brody first and foremost develop a beautiful friendship that starts to turn into something more, and Maya's growing special relationship with Brody's daughter Ashlyn was extra special, and added another heartwarming element to the beautiful story.

However, my favorite part of the story actually ended up being the focus on Maya's search to find the truth about her father, and the corresponding plot points that follow her doing so. I loved how Amy Clipston dived into the insecurities and feelings that had developed for Maya growing up believing her father had never wanted her, and how it ended up leading her down a path of wanting relationships for the wrong reasons.

All in all, I really enjoyed this second heartwarming contemporary from Amy Clipston, and I read the majority of it in a couple of sittings. While I would still say that I enjoy her Amish fiction titles a bit more, her contemporaries are worthy contenders in their own right, and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Definitely check this one out if you're a fan of clean, heartwarming contemporaries that focus around family and friendships. I think this one would make an excellent beach read for this summer.

Thanks so much to Thomas Nelson for allowing me to advance read and review this one!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher (Thomas Nelson) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! I hope your week is off to a great start, and I look forward to sharing more fun reviews with you all later this week.

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters I'd name a child/cat/dog/car/ etc After.

Happy Tuesday guys! I enjoyed Top Ten Tuesday so much last week, that I decided to go ahead and take part again this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish, and here's the link to the main page if you're interested in becoming a part of it: http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html Today's topic is: Ten Characters I'd Name A Child/Cat/Dog/Car/ etc After, and I think it's going to be a really fun one. First, Characters I'd Name a Pet after: 1) Katsa from Kristin Cashore's Graceling: I have to start with Katsa, since it is actually what we named our adorable black and white kitten almost a year ago. She's grown so much since this picture, but this was taken right after we decided on her name. We tried several different book characters, but Katsa is the one she loved right away, and so is what we ended up going with. 2) Rose from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academ...
