Unworthy by Vanessa Hall:

Source: Complimentary Copy Provided by the Author in Exchange for an Honest Review

Publication Date: February 5th, 2022

Genre: Christian Fiction/Suspense

Series: Grace Sufficient

Synopsis:

One moment, one choice can change a life forever.

Two years ago, Evgeny Yurlov’s dreams shattered on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. Without many options, he lands a job—far different from ballet—and returns to Moscow. There, he’s reunited with old friends—friends who need his help as government scrutiny intensifies on Grace Baptist Church.

Sasha Dvornikova isn’t the woman she once was, but Dmitri Rykov’s shadow is relentless. Reminders of her past lurk everywhere, and her sins have branded her undeserving of a man like Evgeny.

As mounting danger surrounds both the church and his job, Evgeny finds past struggles reignited, struggles that reach even Sasha. Amidst so much darkness, will Truth prevail, or will Evgeny’s choices destroy him—and those he loves?

My Review:

Vanessa Hall has a true gift for writing action packed stories that still manage to keep the faith element at the front and center of every single moment, and that's one of my favorite things about reading her beautiful stories.

I had loved the first title in this series, and I'd been looking forward to reading Unworthy ever since, primarily because I couldn't wait to hear more of Evgeny's redemption story, and where his life will take him now that ballet is no longer going to be a part of it. Evgeny's journey is not for the faint of heart, and I loved how the author chose to use his long suffering struggles with depression to highlight his redemption arc, and showcase the truth behind the many scriptures that promise that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Sasha is also overcoming her own struggles and past sins, and learns to also let go and let God, and realize what it truly means for the Lord to remember our sins no more.

Told in both Sasha and Evgeny's viewpoints, Unworthy is a heart wrenching, action packed story that showcases that Jesus is the answer no matter what we may be going through, and that nothing can ever separate us from His love.

I will say, however, that this book did take me a while to get through just because the content is very heavy, and it's definitely not a lighthearted read. It also reminded me a lot of what's going on in our world right now, as we're all seeing so many of our religious freedoms called into question that we've always taken for granted before, and it definitely demonstrated just how important it is to stand for Jesus no matter the cost.

All in all, this was definitely a worthy follow up to Unknown, and I will definitely be recommending it, and looking forward to the release of book three.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to Vanessa Hall for allowing me to read and review this one!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)
