Back Home Again by Melody Carlson Review

 Good Morning Everyone :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

I'm Kirby, and I'm so thankful you took the time to stop by my little corner of the internet.

A couple of years ago, I had someone recommend the Tales From Grace Chapel Inn series to me, and it honestly sounded like something I'd really enjoy.

However, I was a little scared to jump into it, as I knew it was a series with many, many titles, and I wasn't sure I wanted to commit to reading that many books.

I finally decided just to dive in, and give the first title a chance, and today I'm here to share with you all what I ended up thinking about it.

Keep reading below for my full review.

Back Home Again by Melody Carlson:

Source: Library

Publisher: Guidepost Books

Publication Date: October 1st, 2006

Genre: Christian Fiction

Series: Tales From Grace Chapel Inn

Synopsis:

This inaugural title in Tales from Grace Chapel Inn sets the tone for a series that embraces family and friends, good neighbors and good will, and an enduring faith in God. The Howard sisters live their faith by example and bring a sense of community to Acorn Hill as they go about their days.

in Back Home Again, sleepy little Acorn Hill is in for a big surprise when the three sisters reunite after the death of their father, a beloved minister. Each has inherited a share of his worn-down Victorian house, and they decide to turn their family home into a bed-and-breakfast. But the women are as different as sisters can be, and they encounter many obstacles along the way. By learning to work together, accepting a little help from their friends, and trusting in God, the three sisters are finally able to see Grace Chapel Inn open its doors.

Written in a lively and engaging style, this book will draw readers in and have them waiting for the next title in the series.

My Review:

I've long been a fan of Melody Carlson's books, and I was looking forward to diving into her contribution to the multi author Tales From Grace Chapel Inn series. Her contribution, Back Home Again, is the first in the series, and provides the set up for how sisters Alice, Louise and Jane come to own the large Victorian home that will become the future inn, and all the challenges that arise along the way.

I was honestly a little surprised by the fact that this book ended up being nothing like what I was expecting, and yet it was so sweet and simplistic that I still really ended up enjoying it. I loved the little scriptural truths scattered throughout, and the way that the sisters really come to grow together as they begin this lengthy and time consuming project to honor their father.

It was refreshing to have all three of the main characters to be older, and definitely set this story apart. I also personally enjoyed the fact that romance plays no part of the story, and instead the focus is on faith, family and life in the quaint little town of Acorn Hill.

All in all, I really enjoyed this one, and I'm hoping to continue on with the next title in the series shortly.

It's definitely a simpler story, but it's exactly what I needed as a break from the craziness in our world right now.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Definitely recommended to anyone who enjoys heartwarming and cozy small town fiction.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
