New York, New Year, New You by Rachael Bloome Review

 Happy Friday Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you chose to stop by The Preppy Book Princess today for another book review.

Do you have anything exciting going on this weekend? Mine will be pretty much the same as usual, with me working both today and tomorrow, and then spending Sunday with my hubby at home.

Aside from getting some housework and blogging caught up, I'm hoping to have the time to curl up with some great new reads.

And speaking of great new reads, today's review is going to be for another one of the titles from my "2023 Most Anticipated Releases Post."

Rachael Bloome has been one of my favorites ever since her debut novel, and I've got to have the wonderful blessing of being a member of her arc team right from the beginning.

I can't wait to tell you all about her upcoming release in today's review, and I hope you'll all keep on reading down below!

New York, New Year, New You by Rachael Bloome:

Source: Complimentary Copy Provided by the Author as Part of Her Street Team

Publisher: Secret Garden Press

Publication Date: January 31st, 2023

Genre: Clean Romance/Sweet Romance/Contemporary

Synopsis:

Sometimes it takes starting over to discover who we really are…

Have you ever found yourself at a crossroads, forced to choose between who you used to be and who you want to be?

And whichever path you choose will wind up hurting someone you love?

Well, if you haven’t, I can tell you firsthand: it’s the worst.

But it’s exactly where I find myself. In New York, the city of endless possibilities, faced with an impossible choice. Kinda like deciding between Wicked and Hamilton on opening night, except the wrong decision could ruin your life.

And I have no idea what to do.

It all started three months ago, with a friendly family competition, decade-old bucket list, and a long overdue trek across the country.

But as I checked off tasks like learning to cook French cuisine (pro tip: it helps if you actually turn the oven on) and running a marathon (which is way longer than I thought), something remarkable happened.

I discovered skills and strengths I never knew existed, gained the respect I’d once deemed undeserved, and ditched my not-so-endearing nickname—Quincy “The Quitter” Carmichael.

I also reconnected with my childhood best friend’s older brother—who’s still swoon-level cute, by the way—and let’s just say, Nora Ephron would be proud.

But if I’ve learned anything from binge-watching romantic comedies, it’s that most happily ever afters come with a price. And not usually the one you expect.

So, here I am, torn between family and friendship, past and present, love and livelihood. And I could really use some advice.

Sincerely,
Neurotic in New York

From the USA Today bestselling author of the beloved Poppy Creek series comes a humorous and heartwarming stand-alone novel about love, friendship, family, and the–often bumpy—road of self-discovery.

My Review:

Rachael Bloome has been one of my favorite authors ever since her debut release, and I couldn't wait to see how she was going to tackle a different plot style than her usual small town romance. New York, New Year, New You was one of my most anticipated releases this year, and it definitely did not disappoint.

While the setting may have changed, the swoon worthy and heartwarming moments definitely did not, and I couldn't get enough of this sweet romance and its adorable protagonists. There's just something about this author's writing that always has me coming back for me, and I continue to love how she is able to write her characters in a way that makes them feel like old friends to the reader in no time.

We follow a lovely young woman named Quincy, as she's about to embark on a year of finishing all the unfinished challenges she's set for herself over the years. One of those challenges is moving (temporarily) to New York to live with her best friend Brynn, and what better place to check off all the other tasks she's given herself over the years. Only, Quincy wasn't planning on running into Brynn's adorable older brother Ethan, who was her first real crush and honestly, she's not sure it ever went away. She also wasn't prepared for the onslaught of memories associated with this city that used to always mean so much to her. And she's not sure she'll ever be able to finish all the tasks in a way that will live up to her family's impossible standards.

As the reader follows along with Quincy on her journey to discover who she truly wants to be, hijinks, hilarity, and swoon worthy romantic bits follow along each corner. This was another one of those reads where I truly wished the real world could slow down for a few hours so I could just completely immerse myself in this beautiful story.

I have yet to be disappointed in a novel by this author, and I love how her stories continue to provide an escape from all the craziness happening in our world.

If you love clean and heartwarming romances, then you definitely need to give one of Rachael's books a try. After reading this one, I think it's safe to say that she could tackle any romance setting she so chooses to, and I can't possibly recommend this one enough.

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much to Rachael Bloome for allowing me to advance read and review this one!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the author as part of her arc team. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your weekend :)
