While traveling through Manhattan on the way back to her Amish community, young Amanda Beiler is struck by a limousine. Desperate for a break from the stress of the spotlight, the famous singer offers to stay on the family farm for a week to help—an offer guardedly accepted by the deeply religious kin who surround and protect Amanda. As different as they are, she and Alejandro find that a genuine friendship begins to blossom, along with the realization that it might be something more. But if the paparazzi get wind of the superstar’s whereabouts, will they threaten the peace of the faithful community for a sensational story? And in the glare of an unwelcome spotlight, and with the unexpected feelings between them, can this couple build a lasting bridge between their vastly different worlds?

My Review:
Sarah Price has become one of my all time favorite Amish fiction authors over the last couple of years, and I was looking forward to going back and reading one of her older series for the first time. I've always loved the trope where a famous person falls in love with a "regular" person, and I was intrigued how this was going to play out within the Amish fiction genre. I've always loved how this author brings many original story ideas to this genre, and I was looking forward to diving right in.
Unfortunately, this one ended up not being what I was expecting or hoping for, and definitely didn't end up being a new favorite. While there were certain elements I did enjoy, I didn't think the story flowed that well, and even though it's a relatively short story, it did take me quite awhile to finish.
I found it quite improbable (even taking this trope into consideration), and the story really seemed to drag. I didn't think the Amish culture was represented as authentically as it usually is within these author's stories, and it was a lot more worldly than I'm used to reading when I choose to pick up her books. Obviously, because of Alejandro's career, I expected there to be certain types of situations, but it went a bit further than I was expecting, and I was a left a little disappointed.
Lastly, I didn't personally enjoy the ending, and I thought the story was going to go in a much different direction. It kind of felt like everything happened just to drag the stories into a a series, and I'm not the biggest fan of that style of writing.
I am invested enough to read the next book, but if I have the same feelings on that one, I probably won't read any further.
Favorite Quote:
"It's God's way of making certain we appreciate what we have. The harder we have to work for something, the better it often is. This is the same with us people, Dochder. We have to weed our hearts and minds from ugly and ungodly thoughts in order to be welcomed in his garden, ain't so?"
Final Rating: 3/5.
Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)
