That Woman on Thistledown Lane by D.E. Malone Review

 Happy Wednesday Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you chose to stop on by The Preppy Book Princess today for another book review.

Today's review is a special one for me. One of my favorite small town romance authors has started a new series, and I got to read and review it last week, and now I can't wait to share with you all about it.

If you're a fellow fan of clean small town romance, then I'm sure you won't want to miss this one, especially since this is the first of many titles to (hopefully) come in the series.

I hope you'll all join me down below for today's full review.

That Woman on Thistledown Lane by D.E. Malone:

Source: Complimentary Copy Provided by the Author in Exchange for an Honest Review

Publication Date: October 23rd, 2023

Genre: Small Town Romance/Contemporary

Series: Port Chance

Synopsis:

Coming home to Port Chance has dampened Janie Wendell’s spirits—literally. After a devastating spring flood, her family’s needs pull Janie to all corners of her quaint hometown. And now curiosity tethers Janie to her tight-knit community more than ever. The reason? The guy who pledged his heart then hit the road for a job opportunity years ago is back, and maybe for good.

Mark Christie risked losing Janie three years ago when he landed his dream writing gig. Expecting her to drop everything and follow him around the country was unimaginable. Underestimating the pain when she fled town because of him was even worse. But now Janie’s back, serving up coffee and—hopefully—second chances at Daisy Gap Cafe while he contemplates his next moves, including finding out once and for all why the grizzled owner of an antiques store across the street has always tugged at his heartstrings.

When Janie and Mark find themselves working side by side after a mutual friend's desperate plea, their crackling chemistry bubbles like butter on a hot skillet. But history might repeat itself if they’re determined to guard their hearts at the risk of losing the chance for a happily ever after.

Discover the magic of a delightful river town and the inhabitants of Port Chance as this charming sweet romance novel unfolds in a new series by D.E. Malone.

My Review:

I've come to expect wonderful things every time I pick up a new title by D.E. Malone, and while I found it a little bittersweet to be moving away from Hendricks, I couldn't wait to dive right into the first title in a brand new series.

That Woman on Thistledown Lane is a heartwarming second chance romance full of well developed characters, a plot that pulls the reader in right from the beginning, and a charming setting that truly helps bring the story alive on the page.

Janie and Mark were on their way to happily ever after when circumstances happened, and they ended up calling it quits. Both left Port Chance shortly thereafter, but now circumstances have called them both back home again for the first time in years. While hurt is still simmering below the surface, neither can deny the sparks that continue to fly every time they find themselves together. But can they ever truly move on from the past, and find their way into a future of their own?

I've yet to ever be disappointed in a title by this author, and this sweet romance was no exception. Janie and Mark's story was swoon worthy and bittersweet, and I loved getting to follow alongside their complicated history, and the many hilarious matchmakers who are determined to see them back together. I especially enjoyed Janie's close relationship with her family, and I wholeheartedly am crossing my fingers that one of two of her sisters will end up with a story of their own down the road.

Final Rating: 4/5.

My first visit to Port Chance was both charming and idyllic, and I hope I'll have many more chances to visit in the future. If you're a fan of heartwarming and clean contemporaries, then this just might be the title you're going to want to go ahead and pick up.

Thanks so much to D.E. Malone for allowing me to read and review this one!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Thanks so much for stopping by today guys! I pray you all have a great rest of your day :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
