Publisher: Faith Writes Publishing

Publication Date: November 7th, 2025

Genre: Christian Fiction/Suspense/Thriller

Series: Toxic Truths

Synopsis:

When everyone wears a mask, who can you trust?

CIA operative Dante Reyes stumbles onto a chilling discovery in this Christian romantic suspense. American women, including his former SEAL teammate's sister Wendy, are being trafficked overseas to fuel a terrorist plot, orchestrated through a sinister dating app scheme. Thrust into forced proximity with HSI Agent Lisa Harper, a sharp-witted investigator with a painful past, Dante faces a task force shadowed by suspicion.

Lisa, hardened by life and skeptical of faith, must lead the mission despite a mysterious leak threatening their every move. As they race to dismantle the network, Dante's quiet strength and protective nature chip away at Lisa's defenses in this enemies to lovers romance, igniting an attraction neither can ignore.

The trail leads to a glittering masquerade ball, where international buyers gather for a final, explosive transaction. With high stakes and time running out, Dante and Lisa must navigate a web of deception, where trust in each other and something greater becomes the ultimate weapon and their hearts the greatest risk.

In a world where loyalties shift like shadows, can they overcome their fears and forge a bond strong enough to save the innocent, or will betrayal from within shatter everything they hold dear?

My Review:

Midnight Masquerade tackles the dark subject of human trafficking and all the evils associated with it, but it's also a title with a strong faith element where the light of Jesus provides a much needed balance to the darkness of this broken world.

CIA operative Dante Reyes believes in living out his faith, and will need it more than ever when he finds himself caught up in a dark web of deceit connected to a human trafficking case that's farther reaching than anyone could ever have suspected. When he's placed on a task force lead by Lisa Harper, the woman he loved who he had to let go of because he couldn't be unequally yoked to an unbeliever, he soon finds himself and his team in a dangerous situation opposing players who will stop at nothing to see their evil agendas proceed. As they have to learn to follow the Lord's leading in all they do, what follows is a spine tingling, keep you on the edge of your seat mystery with explosive revelations and a roller coaster plot.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this one going into it, as I've loved every previous title I've read by this author, but I don't personally read too many titles about trafficking as they're usually a tad too dark for me. This one however, was amazing, and I loved how the author wove in a heavy faith element that shed some light on this devastating and twisted side of society that's unfortunately become so rampant today. It was realistic and authentic, and I ended up reading almost the entirety of the story in one sitting.

I do feel I missed out on a bit of the plot not having read the first book before this one, so I would recommend you read that one first before going ahead and picking this one up. I would definitely recommend this title to anyone who is a fan of Christian suspense as I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to the author for allowing me to advance read and review this title!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the author as part of her street team. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
