Christmas In July: Christmas Book Recommendations

Hello fellow readers,

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that everyone's enjoying their summer. :)

I want to make a confession today on my blog. I'm an absolute sucker when it comes to Christmas. There's nothing that I love more than that time of the year, and I tend to lose myself in the baking, decorating, shopping, watching Hallmark movies, listening to Christmas songs, etceta etcetra. However, Christmas in July is something that I've never really gotten into. I think this is partly due to the fact that it's hard to think about Christmas amidst the horrible heat and humidity we typically experience in July, but I've been seeing a lot of advertisements for Christmas in July around my town, and throughout the internet this week, and so, I decided to do a post today for Christmas in July.

I absolutely love Christmas books! This tradition has carried over from when I was a child and loved nothing more than The Polar Express, The Nutcracker, and many, many others. I tend to read Christmas books at all times of the year, because I honestly love them that much. And today I'm going to do some Christmas book recommendations, for anybody out there who's in the Christmas spirit this week, and is looking for a good Christmas book to curl up with.

Here's my list of recommendations:

On Strike For Christmas by Sheila Roberts:

Genre: Adult Contemporary Fiction

This is a hilarious, but heartfelt look into a community where a group of women decide to go on strike, as they feel Christmas has become a time where way too much is expected of them, and their husband's aren't willing to rise up to the challenge and help. I read this one for the first time last year, and I loved it. It's the perfect novel to curl up with a mug of hot chocolate in front of the tree, and enjoy a good laugh over the antics that arise.

The Christmas Hope series by Donna VanLiere:

Genre: Adult Contemporary/Inspirational Fiction

I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with this particular series, as the first novel, The Christmas Shoes, has become a widely popular Christmas story, My personal favorite in this series is The Christmas Secret, but I have honestly loved each one that I've read. Each book follows the same small town, but with differing characters, and shows the importance of faith and love during the holiday season. I advise anyone picking these up though to come prepared with Kleenex as many of them are definitely tearjerkers, but I love them nonetheless.

Trading Christmas by Debbie Macomber:

Genre: Adult Contemporary Fiction

Debbie Macomber's Christmas books are some of my absolute favorites. While I literally could have included every one of her Christmas novels on this list, I decided just to go with my favorite, as so not to make this post unnecessarily long.  Trading Christmas is a hilarious novel about two people on opposite sides of the country that decide to do a house swap. Of course, in typical Debbie Macomber fashion, there arises many complications when siblings and friends show up unannounced, but it might just make it the best Christmas that any of them have ever seen. I also really enjoyed the TV movie adaptation of this one by the Hallmark channel, and I highly recommend watching it.

The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Catherine Hapka:

Genre: Young Adult Contemporary Fiction

I honestly wasn't expecting too much of this one, when I picked it up for the first time a couple of months ago, but I honestly ended up really enjoying it. It's a cute romance story about a teenage girl who's so focused on the future, that she almost loses one of the most important people in her life. I find that I read a lot of Christmas books, but a lot of them end up being adult fiction, and so I was really excited to find a YA Christmas novel, and I'd definitely recommend this one for anyone looking for a light holiday read.

Let It Snow by Maureen Johnson, John Green, and Lauren Myracle:

Genre: Young Adult Contemporary Fiction:

Of course, my list of favorite Christmas novels could never be complete without mentioning this one. I loved how this is technically three separate stories, but that the stories overlap, and show how an ill-timed Christmas Eve storm affects numerous different residents of Gracetown. This had me laughing out loud, tearing up, and really just enjoying the time that I got to spend reading it. This is definitely a must read around the holidays in my opinion!

So that's my list of Christmas in July book recommendations guys! I hope this post inspires you to curl up with one of these seasonal favorites, and a cup of your favorite hot chocolate (if it's not a million degrees where you live), and enjoy this little teaser of the holiday season that so many people have come to love in July.

Thanks for reading everyone, and I'll see you in my next post. :)

First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
