Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Hey Guys!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and is excited to start off another week!

While watching Booktube over the weekend, I stumbled across the Unpopular Opinions Book Tag, and I thought it looked like a lot of fun. So that's going to be my post for today.

This Tag was created by TheBookArcher on Youtube, and here's the link to her original video:

1) A Popular Book Or Series That You Didn't Like:

Right from when I first started reading The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey, I honestly couldn't understand why so many people raved about it. I found it a tad on the boring side, and I think a large reason I disliked it so much was the constant skipping of perspectives. It just felt like there was way too many main characters, and that definitely hindered my enjoyment of this book. After finishing the first, I had no urge to continue on with the rest of the series, and I really can't see that changing.

2) A Popular Book Or Series That Everyone Else Seems To Hate But You Love:

The Wolves Of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater is definitely the first series that comes to mind for this one. I really loved reading this entire series, and I loved seeing Sam and Grace's relationship develop. I also really liked Maggie's writing style, and I honestly don't get why these books are so disliked by everyone.

3) A Love Triangle Where The Main Character Ended Up With The Person You Did Not Want Them To End Up With (Warn PPl For Spoilers) Or An OTP That You Don't Like:

SPOILER WARNING!!!!!

I was really disappointed with how Lauren Oliver left the ending of Requiem so open ended. I was really hoping that Lena would end up up with Julian as I absolutely adored them together, and I felt like this ending was really disappointing to me.

4) A Popular Book Genre That You Hardly Reach For:

For this one I'm actually going to go with science fiction. While I seem to read across a broad range of genres, science fiction seems to be one that I rarely seem to end up choosing.

5) A Popular Or Beloved Character That You Do Not Like:

For this one, I definitely have to go with Lola from Lola and The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. Everyone who knows me knows that Anna and the French Kiss is my favorite book of all time, and the sequel was a tad disappointing to me just because I couldn't stand Lola's character. I thought she was so disrespectful to her parents, and she just annoyed me so badly. I still did like the overall story, I just didn't care for her character.

6) A Popular Author That You Can't Seem To Get Into To:

I'm probably going to have everyone hating on me for this answer, but honest to goodness I'm going with John Green for this one. I did love The Fault In Our Stars, but I almost didn't even end up reading it as I'd disliked his previous novels so much. I just can't get into his writing style at all, and I generally find most of his characters weird and a tad on the annoying side honestly.

7) A Popular Book Trope That You're Tired Of Seeing (examples "lost princess, corrupt ruler, love triangles, etc):

My pick for this one is definitely insta-love! I'm so tired of reading about characters that fall in love after three days, and it just seems so ridiculously unbelievable to me, and I've been seeing a lot of it lately.

8) A Popular Series That You Have No Interest In Reading:

Without a doubt Asylym by Madeleine Roux. These books completely creep me out, and I can't ever see myself being brave enough to give them a try unfortunately.

9) The Saying Goes "The Book Is Always Better Than The Movie," But What Movie Or TV Adapatation Do You Prefer More Than The Book:

My choice for this last question is always extremely unpopular, but I'm actually going to go with The Princess Diaries. These movies are some of my favorite live action movies of all time, and I just honestly wasn't as in love with the books as I expected myself to be. I don't think I even ended up finishing them, as I just didn't care for the majority of the characters, but I have honestly loved the other books I've read by Meg Cabot.

So that's my Unpopular Book Opinions Guys! Thanks so much for reading, and I'd love to read everyone else's picks as well. Please let me know if you've also done this tag so that I can check it out. :)

  1. I would have to agree with you on the insta-love. That and love triangles are both troupes that get on my nerves. The second 5th Wave book is so awful it was hard to get through so you're not missing out on much. I want to read the wolves of mercy falls, and I read the raven boys by stiefvater and i love her writing style.

    1. Ugh I can't stand when insta-love is a huge part of books, and yes I definitely agree with you that love triangles can also get pretty annoying. I'm glad to hear you say that about the fifth wave as I always kind of wondered if I was missing out by not continuing on with the series, and it's good to know that I'm not!

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

Happy Friday Friends :) I hope you're all enjoying the last little bit of summer. Are you sad to see summer come to an end, or are you looking forward to fall? I personally love fall and it's my all time favorite season.
