Fifty Bookish Questions Tag :)

Hello all my fellow readers.

I'm hoping to be back on track with my regular Top 5 Wednesday posts next week, but this week instead I'm actually going to be doing a fun tag post, originally from Life Of A Female Bibliophile's blog, who's one of my all time favorite book bloggers.

There's a lot of questions to answer, but they all sound really fun, and I'm going to go ahead and get started.

1) What Was The Last Book You Read?

This was actually My Hope Next Door by Tammy L. Gray.

2) Was it a good one?

Yes! I thought it was one of the best inspirational novels I've read in a long time, and Tammy L. Gray has definitely been added to the list of authors I want to try again in the future.

3) What made it good?

The chemistry between the main characters, the way it shows that even Christians aren't "perfect" like is so often misinterpreted, and the way it portrayed things realistically, and authentically.

4) Would you recommend it to other people?

Definitely! I've actually already recommended it to my best friend.

5) How often do you read?

Unless something extreme happens, I pretty much read at least a little bit every single day.

6) Do you like to read?

Like is an understatement. I would be lost without my books :)

7) What was the last bad book you read?

Probably Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder.

8) What made you dislike it?

The writing style, the way I felt it dragged, and honestly the main character.

9) Do you wish to be a writer?

That is definitely my ultimate dream and goal for myself.

10) Has any book influenced you?

The Bible!

11) Do you read fanfiction?

Not regularly, but I have definitely read a few based on characters I loved and whatnot.

12) Do you write fanfiction

That I do not.

13) What's your favorite book?

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins?

14) What's your least favorite book?

I don't think truly I could answer this.

15) Do you prefer physical books or ready on a device? (like a kindle)

Without a doubt physical books! I do own a Kobo, and I do use Ibooks on my phone at work, but there's just something about having the physical copy that's way more exciting than it's electronic counterpart.

16) When did you learn to read?

I believe I was four or five. I remember trying so hard to learn early cause I was dying to be able to read my favorite books myself.

17) What is your favorite book you had to read in school?

Probably I want to go home by Gordon Korman. I've lost track of how many times I've read this hilarious story, and I can't wait to introduce it to my own kids someday.

18) What is your favorite book series?

Probably Vampire Academy and Bloodlines by Richelle Mead.

19) Who is your favorite author?

Ahh so hard to pick just one, but probably Debbie Macomber.

20) What is your favorite genre?

YA contemporary.

21) Who is your favorite character in a book series?

Probably Juliette from Shatter Me.

22) Has a book transported you elsewhere?

Pretty much every good book I've ever read has done so :)

23) Which book do you wish had a sequel?

The Vampire Stalker by Alison Van Diepan

24) Which book do you wish didn't have a sequel?

The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski. I completely loved the first book, but the other two not so much.

25) How long does it take you to read a book?

I can finish in as little as a couple of hours if I'm extremely hooked, and have the time to do so, otherwise probably two days or so usually.

26) Do you like when books become movies?

Yes, if it does the book justice!

27) Which book is ruined by its movie adaptation?

I know it's not a movie, but for me personally I feel like the Shadowhunters TV show did this! I can't even bring myself to watch it anymore unfortunately.

28) Which movie has done a book justice?

Probably The Fault In Our Stars. I love how close they kept the movie to the book.

29) Do you read newspapers?

Not very often, but I will pick up our local paper once in awhile.

30) Do you read magazines?

Once again, not very often but occasionally I will pick one up at a doctor's office or such.

31) Do you prefer newspapers or magazines?

Probably magazines, but I really don't have much of a preference either way.

32) Do you read while in bed?

Yes, literally ALL THE TIME!

33) Do you read while on the toilet?

No actually I've always found this to be a tad odd.

34) Do you read while in the car?

I actually do this quite often, as usually when my hubby and I go somewhere together, he drives, so I'm free to read.

35) Do you read while in the bath?

Occasionally I will do this, but honestly, I'm usually too scared of dropping my precious books in the bathtub.

36) Are you a fast reader?

Yes! All my friends think I read crazy fast.

37) Are you a slow reader?

Umm no

38) Where is your favorite place to read?

In my favorite comfy chair, by my favorite big window, as I love the natural light. Usually my cat, Katsa, curls up with me, and it's literally the perfect setting.

39) Is it hard for you to concentrate while you read?

Usually not, I'm pretty good at blocking out noise. But I've recently discovered that I have a really hard time concentrating on my book if ppl around me are speaking a different language, which is probably a strange thing to be distracted by but it seems to happen to me lately.

40) Do you need a room to be silent while you read?

Somewhat. I don't particularly like reading over loud music or TV, but if it's not too too loud then usually I can tune it out.

41) Who gave you your love for reading?

My mom definitely encouraged my love of reading from a young age. I grew up loving the local library and bookstore, and this definitely shaped my love of books today.

42) What book is next on your list to read?

Wild Montana Skies by Susan May Warren. It's an arc that I currently have from Netgalley, and I really want to get to it before it's release date next month.

43) When did you start to read chapter books?

I want to say around the age of five. I know it was fairly soon after I first started reading, that I just couldn't resist starting on chapter books.

44) Who is your favorite children's book author?

C.S. Lewis and Ann. M Martin

45) Which author would you most want to interview?

Louisa May Alcott, I'd love to hear all about her amazing quest to get her books published.

46) Which author do you think you'd be friends with?

Probably Stephanie Perkins or Ali Novak

47) What book have you reread the most?

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

48) Which books do you consider "classics"?

I guess the ones that have been literally recognized as classics by the canon, but also ones that have seemed to become timeless over the years like The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.

49) Which books do you think should be taught in every school?

Any books that encourage reading! I feel that often the overused books in school are what turn so many kids away from reading in the first place, and I definitely think there needs to be a balance of classic novels, with some contemporary novels thrown in for good measure.

50) Which books should be banned from all schools?

I don't really think any books should be outright banned from schools. Perhaps they should just be banned from classes that aren't age appropriate yet instead. I don't feel it's a schools right to limit what their students are reading, and in reality, banning a book probably has the reverse effect of making someone want to read it more anyways!

Well there ya go guys! That was a really long post, but I definitely think it let me tell all of you a little bit more about me. I tag anyone who wants to do this post, and please let me know if you decide to, as I'd love to read it!

Thanks so much for reading!

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often.
