Hello Friends :)
I hope you're all doing well, and continuing to turn to Jesus as your anchor during all the craziness and darkness that's currently everywhere in our world.
I want to thank you all for taking the time to drop by The Preppy Book Princess today for another book review. I'm Kirby, and I'm so happy you've decided to stop by today.
I've been continuing to read through many new to me Christian fiction Christmas titles lately, and I read an adorable Regency era one a few weeks ago that I knew I needed to review on my blog, and today I'm excited to get to share it all with you guys.
So with all that said let's jump right into day four of Christmas in July here on The Preppy Book Princess.
An Ivy Hill Christmas by Julie Klassen:
Source: Libby App
Publisher: Bethany House
Publication Date: September 1st, 2020
Genre: Christian Fiction/Historical Fiction
Series: Tales From Ivy Hill
Synopsis:
Richard Brockwell, the younger son of Ivy Hill's most prominent family, hasn't been home for Christmas in years. He prefers to live in the London townhouse, far away from Brockwell Court, the old family secret that haunts him, and the shadows of his past mistakes. But then his mother threatens to stop funding his carefree life--unless he comes home for Christmas. Out of options, he sets out for Ivy Hill, planning to be back on a coach bound for London and his unencumbered bachelor life as soon as the festivities are over.
But Christmas in the country presents unforeseen surprises, including encounters with an orphaned apprentice, the first love he disappointed years ago, and Arabella Awdry, a young lady who is far more appealing than he recalled . . . and determined to have nothing to do with him.
Will Christmastime in Ivy Hill, with its village charm, kissing boughs, joyous songs, and divine hope, work its magic in his heart . . . and hers as well?

My Review:
I hadn't personally read the other Ivy Hill novels before picking this one up. I was in the mood for a Christian, Christmas read, and loved that this one was set during the Regency era. This heartwarming, sweet story touched my heart and left me with a big smile on my face, and now I definitely want to go back and read the other books in the series.
An Ivy Hill Christmas is a delightful tale about the return of a prodigal son. Richard Brockwell is returning home rather begrudgingly, as past memories have made his hometown a place he longs to forget. He's grown rather bitter and selfish in recent years, and it will take this delightful community and it's cast of eclectic characters to soften his hardened heart and remind him what the Christmas season is truly all about.
As the reader follows along Richard's journey, we also get glimpses into the lives of many other beloved characters including Richard's publishing friend, the woman Richard finds himself falling her (Miss Arabella Awdry), his brother and sister in law, friends from his past, and a beautiful hearted orphan who has found himself in a precarious position.
I enjoyed everything about this one from start to finish, and I may just have to reread it again this Christmas season. Julie Klassen is an immensely talented storyteller, and I literally felt like I was right there with the Brockwell family enjoying all the seasonal festivities, and shining a light on the importance of our Savior's birth.
Final Rating: 5/5.
I highly recommend checking this one out if you love heartwarming Christmas romances or are a fan of stories set during the Regency era.
Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day:)
