Partners in Lime by Bree Baker Review

 Happy Friday Friends :)

I pray you're all having a great week, and that you are all looking forward to the weekend.

Mine is going to be pretty uneventful as my hubby is working the whole way through, it's still ridiculously hot outside, and we're currently under an air quality warning because of smoke blowing in from forest fires.

My heart goes out to everyone affected by the wildfires, and I'm continuing to pray for all of you and all of the emergency responders.

I'm asthmatic, so I don't really plan on leaving the house much this weekend, and will instead be curling up with a couple of great books.

I ended up getting to go away for the day yesterday with my hubby to the city, and we had a fun time doing some shopping which included a visit to my all time favorite bookstore which is a lovely Christian bookstore.

I've been continuing to work my way through Bree Baker's Seaside Café Mystery series, and I recently had a chance to read the upcoming book in the series. I can't wait to share with you all what I ended up thinking about it.

Synopsis:

Everly will have to go against the tide to crack this case!

It all seems to be smooth sailing for Everly Swan. The island of Charm, North Carolina is hosting tons of fun summer events, her iced tea shop is a hit, and best of all, she's finally dating the handsome Detective Grady Hays. But their romantic bubble bursts when tragedy strikes: a surf-pro is found murdered on the beach, killed with a theater prop.

Grady follows the evidence, all of which points to Matt, Everly's friend and one-time fling. As Grady does his job, so does Everly—her unofficial chef-turned-sleuth-job, that is. She's determined to clear her friend's name but the arrival of a fancy new teashop and The Town Charmer, a gossip blog determined to rock the boat, complicates things. As Everly tries to keep rumors at bay and investigate the murder (and her new tea rival), the killer leaves a message in the sand...

Partners in Lime, the sixth book in Bree Baker's critically acclaimed Seaside Café Mystery series, is sure to make waves among fans of cozy mysteries!

My Review:

I've read and enjoyed every single title in Bree Baker's Seaside Café Mystery series, and I couldn't wait to dive into the newest. This installment included each and every element I've come to love about this series, and features a well rounded mystery that kept me guessing from the get go.

Perhaps my favorite part of picking up this series is the strong sense of family and friendship that is always heavily portrayed, and this installment was no exception. Grady and Everly are finally officially a couple, but a wrench is about to be thrown into everything when a pro surfer is murdered, and Everly's friend Matt is the prime suspect. Grady wants Everly nowhere near the murder, but how can she sit back and do nothing when one of her closest friends is being accused of a crime he couldn't have possibly committed.

I loved getting another visit to Charm, and I enjoyed the tea shop, the many secondary characters that have started to feel like old friends like Everly's aunts Clara and Fran, Denise, Amelia, Ryan, etc., the budding romance between Everly and Grady, Everly's persistent and pesky fitness bracelet, and her many convo's with good old Lou and Maggie.

I have to say that certain events near the ending had me gasping out loud, and the way this one ends has me slightly panicking that I have to wait months for the next book release.

Overall, I really adored this title, and thought it was another great addition to the series. My only complaints would be that I didn't think the secondary characters, other than Matt and Grady, played much of a part in this one, and also, I thought some of Everly's antics were a bit over the top and didn't seem quite as believable as they had in previous books.

Regardless, it was still a great read and a great addition to the series, and I will anxiously be awaiting book seven.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much to Poisoned Pen Press for allowing me to advance read and review this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your weekend. :)

I'll see you all back here on Monday for an exciting blog post and an even more exciting announcement!

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
