A Gathering Place by Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer Review

 Good Morning Friends :)

I pray you're all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

I love rereading, but I don't always get a lot of time to do so. I quite often have a lot of review books, library books, books of my own, etc to get to, and I don't always have time for rereading.

This year I've been (slowly) working my way through a reread of one of my all time favorite series, The Cape Light series. Most of them I'd never actually reviewed the first time around, so I've been enjoying getting to do so during the rereads.

Today I'm happy to get to share with you all my review of the third book in the series.

A Gathering Place by Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer:

Source: Christmas Gift From My Hubby

Publisher: Jove

Publication Date: February 7th, 2005

Genre: Christian Fiction/Contemporary

Series: Cape Light

Synopsis:

Now that the Cape Light election is over, Mayor Emily Warwick can finally focus on her burgeoning relationship with Sara-the daughter she gave up for adoption twenty years ago. Seeing her after all these years has stirred up some conflicting feelings for Emily. While she is grateful to have Sara back in her life, she can't help but regret their years apart. Typically she would turn to Reverend Ben for guidance, but turmoil within his own family has inspired a crisis of faith for the minister, making him question whether he is qualified to counsel his congregants.

And then there's the fact that Emily is slowly falling for newspaper publisher Dan Forbes, who'd been all set to leave for an extended sailing trip until an accident dashed his plans-giving him and Emily more time to develop their bond.
But with two grown children of his own, would Dan ever want to start another family? Emily hopes so-because she's eager for a second chance at life...

My Review:

I'd honestly love to live in Cape Light. Of the many small town series I've read over the years, this series continues to be one of my all time favorites, and I've been immensely enjoying my reread of the entire series. A Gathering Place is the third installment of this bestselling series, and it gives the reader in depth looks into many of the town's most beloved characters including Reverend Ben and his family, Emily Warwick, Sara Franklin, Luke, Grace and Digger Hegman, and Charlie and Lucy Bates among others.

A Gathering Place highlights the depth that the residents of Cape Light will go to help someone in need, and each is determined to step up when Reverend Ben faces an emergency, and when Digger Hegman disappears, the town will go to every length possible to find him. As this title focuses around the Christmas season in Cape Light, we also get a lot of emphasis on the way that the town is trying to enjoy their celebrations, all while dealing with personal issues and turmoil throughout.

Two romances are focused on throughout the story; one between mayor Emily Warwick and her budding friendship with the town's recently retired newspaper owner, and one between Emily's biological daughter Sara and her friendship that's recently turned into something more with Luke that she's not entirely sure she's ready for. On top of the romances, the reader also gets a first row seat to familial tensions and history, beloved town events, the importance of friendship, and the simple reminder that we need to remember to put an emphasis on our Heavenly Father at all times, not just when an emergency arises and not just when it's convenient for us to do so.

I loved this one just as much the second time around, and I can't wait to continue on with my reread of the series.

Final Rating: 5/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! I hope you all have a great rest of your day.

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters I'd name a child/cat/dog/car/ etc After.

Happy Tuesday guys! I enjoyed Top Ten Tuesday so much last week, that I decided to go ahead and take part again this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish, and here's the link to the main page if you're interested in becoming a part of it: http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html Today's topic is: Ten Characters I'd Name A Child/Cat/Dog/Car/ etc After, and I think it's going to be a really fun one. First, Characters I'd Name a Pet after: 1) Katsa from Kristin Cashore's Graceling: I have to start with Katsa, since it is actually what we named our adorable black and white kitten almost a year ago. She's grown so much since this picture, but this was taken right after we decided on her name. We tried several different book characters, but Katsa is the one she loved right away, and so is what we ended up going with. 2) Rose from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academ...
