On Lone Star Trail by Amanda Cabot Review

 Hello Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I want to thank you all for joining me for another book review here on The Preppy Book Princess.

It's been a little while since my last post, but I had actually planned it that way. My husband and I just got home from a wonderful week long trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario, and I promised him that I wouldn't say anything about it on my social media's until we were back home for security and safety reasons.

We flew back home on Wednesday, stayed overnight in the city we flew out of, and returned home yesterday. It's definitely one of my favorite vacations we've ever taken, and I can't believe just how beautiful and stunning the falls were. It definitely reminded us just how amazing and gorgeous God's creation truly is.

I hope to share some pictures and highlights from our trip in the days to come, but today I'm excited to jump back into to sharing a book review with you all. Here's a review from a third book in a contemporary Christian romance series.

I didn't love the first two books in the series, and you can check out those reviews using the links below, but I was still invested enough to want to go ahead and give the third book a try.

Keep reading down below to find out whether or not the third book ended up being a pleasant surprise or a little bit of a letdown.

On Lone Star Trail by Amanda Cabot:

Source: Library

Publisher: Revell

Publication Date: January 26th, 2016

Genre: Christian Fiction/Contemporary

Series: Texas Crossroads

Synopsis:

If there's one thing Gillian Hodge never wants to see again, it's a man on a motorcycle. Her last encounter with one left her right hand crushed, ending her promising career as a concert pianist. But as she heads to Rainbow's End Resort, a sudden thunderstorm causes a motorcycle to crash in front of her.

When TJ Benjamin's wife died, he lost more than his best friend; he lost his faith. He's spent the past year wandering the country on a motorcycle, trying not to think about his future. When he finds himself stranded with a busted bike and a reluctant rescuer, he has to wonder about God's sense of humor.

Can this woman without a future and this man running from his past find romance in the present? Or are they too tied to the way life used to be?

My Review:

After finishing On Lone Star Trail, I can confidently state that Amanda Cabot saved the best for last in this final title in her Texas Crossroads trilogy. While I had enjoyed certain elements of the first two books, I wouldn't have considered either of them to be new favorites, and I can't say that I truly cared for either Kate or Marisa as main characters. However, this one was wonderful and I was pulled into Gillian and TJ's story right from the opening pages.

As someone who is a big fan of redemptive arcs, this one was definitely everything I was hoping for. Both Gillian and TJ have been dealt some pretty tragic circumstances, and they have to go through a lot before they find their way back to God's plans and purpose. Their healing journey was probably my favorite part of the story.

Friends to something more romances are always a favorite, and I thought this one was extra special. On top of Gillian and TJ's romance beginning as a beautiful friendship, it also starts off as them spending time together to try and help the many teens who were victims of losing their homes in a previous fire in the beloved town. They both show such big hearts for helping those around them; even while in the midst of their own tragedies.

A clean romance with a wonderful faith element, and a plethora of lovely secondary characters. My only real complaint was that I could have done without the love triangle element, but I also recognize that it was their to serve a certain purpose, which it did.

A lovely wrap up to the trilogy, and definitely my favorite of the three. While overall I'd still say I prefer this author's historical stories, this one was still a winner, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, faith based contemporary read.

Final Rating: 4/5.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your weekend :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. If you'd like to check out that review, you can do so using the link below: Bless Your Heart Rae Sutton Otherwise, keep on reading down below for today's full review. De...

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Characters I'd name a child/cat/dog/car/ etc After.

Happy Tuesday guys! I enjoyed Top Ten Tuesday so much last week, that I decided to go ahead and take part again this week. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish, and here's the link to the main page if you're interested in becoming a part of it: http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html Today's topic is: Ten Characters I'd Name A Child/Cat/Dog/Car/ etc After, and I think it's going to be a really fun one. First, Characters I'd Name a Pet after: 1) Katsa from Kristin Cashore's Graceling: I have to start with Katsa, since it is actually what we named our adorable black and white kitten almost a year ago. She's grown so much since this picture, but this was taken right after we decided on her name. We tried several different book characters, but Katsa is the one she loved right away, and so is what we ended up going with. 2) Rose from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academ...
