My Review:

Misgivings is the debut novel by author Anne Gibson, and is a wonderful and powerful story that speaks of great things to come in the future from her as a writer.

I read a lot of Christian suspense, and I always feel that stories that dive into darker content need a lot of Jesus to provide a ray of light in an otherwise heavy story. That's definitely the case with this one, as though many of the plot points are heart wrenching and hard to read about, all are used in a way that helps Dee discover who God is, and that He has a plan through all the valleys and shadows if she can only reach out and trust Him.

The romance is sweet and slightly tumultuous since much of it is taking place after Dee removes herself from a domestic abuse situation. She's struggling to replace what she's known about love in the past with what Luke is freely offering her now. I enjoyed the way he gave her space and time to process everything, while still making sure she knew that he was willing to be there for her in whatever way she needed.

The writing was spot on, and I had a hard time wanting to put this one down. I'm going to briefly say that the author tackles several tough subjects gracefully, but just be forewarned that domestic abuse, guerilla warfare, and r*pe all play roles throughout the course of this story, and you'll want to be prepared if you are triggered by any of those situations.

All in all, I think this is a fantastic debut novel and I'm excited see what this author has in store for readers in the future.

Final Rating: 4/5.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspense novels with a heavy faith presence, and a beautiful romance element.

Thanks so much to the author for providing me with a complimentary copy to read and review!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)

My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
