Spooky Christian Reads For Halloween

Happy Halloween Bookish Friends :)

I feel that during Halloween so many readers love to gobble up spooky stories, and it's something I don't do too often as so often a lot of the content makes me uncomfortable.

However, if any of you are in the same boat, and you're still wanting to enjoy spooky reads that don't compromise your beliefs, then I'd love to recommend some deliciously scary Christian fiction novels that will deliver on the spooky story side, but will keep the content clean and faith based.

Lonestar Series by Colleen Coble:

If you're looking for a series that combines dude ranches, cowboys, and sinister plots that will keep you on the edge of your seat, all wrapped up in a giant reminder that God's plan is always the perfect plan, than Colleen Coble's Lonestar Series is the series for you. This is still one of my favorite Colleen Coble series. Check out my reviews of this series here and here.

Alaskan Courage Series by Dani Pettrey:

If you love Alaska, if you love adventurous suspense novels, if you want to be scared away from ever stepping foot on a cruise ship again, or if you want to be glued to the edge of your seat until you finish every last page in this entire series, then I highly suggest you pick up Dani Pettrey's Alaskan Courage series. Each novel is just as good as the one before it, and each one is equally suspenseful and terrifying. And of course, each novel showcases that our Heavenly Father is always there, even in the broken times when it might seem otherwise.

The House on Foster Hill by Jaime Jo Wright:

If you're wanting to have to sleep with the lights on for days on end, if you want a dual line mystery that's equally intriguing in both time periods, and if you want a wholeheartedly example of extreme faith despite broken circumstances, than The House on Foster Hill by Jaime Jo Wright is the book for you. To put this into perspective, my aunt basically only reads Christian suspense, mysteries and thrillers, and this is one of the only ones she's ever read that had her scared to be at home by herself. I completely loved this one, and you can check out my review here.

The Reckoning at Gossamer Pond by Jaime Jo Wright:

If I'm going to mention Jaime Jo Wright's debut novel on this list, then I definitely have to include her follow up novel as well. This one is equally terrifying, also had a dual timeline, and also demonstrates extreme faith in broken circumstances. It's hard for me to even choose which one of her books I enjoyed more, and I highly recommend picking them both up. You can check out my review of this one here

And lastly, if medical thrillers are your jam, then I'd like to include one final entry highlighting that category as well.

By Your Side by Candace Calvert:

While in my opinion this one may not be as scary as the others I've included on this list, it is still filled with many jump out of your seat moments, and showcases a strong, faith based plot. You can check out my full review of it here.

Thanks so much for reading guys! I hope you have a great Halloween, and that this list gave you some good book recommendations. I'll see you all again on Friday.

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest
