Before I Called You Mine by Nicole Deese Review

Hello Friends :)

I hope you've all had a great week, and that you've had lots of quality reading time.

Do you have any fun vacation plans for spring or Easter break?

My hubby and I will just be staying home and working, but I'm hoping to have lots of time to curl up with amazing books.

Speaking of amazing books, I couldn't be more excited to share today's review with you all. This book is literally mind blowing, and I loved it so very much.

I'm getting ahead of myself though, so I'm going to save all my other thoughts and opinions for the actual review, and I can't wait for you all to get the opportunity to read this one.

Before I Called You Mine by Nicole Deese:

Source: Publisher Via NetGalley

Publication Date: March 31st, 2020

Publisher: Bethany House

Genre: Christian Fiction/Contemporary

Synopsis:

Lauren Bailey may be a romantic at heart, but after a decade of matchmaking schemes gone wrong, there's only one match she's committed to now--the one that will make her a mother. Lauren is a dedicated first grade teacher in Idaho, and her love for children has led her to the path of international adoption. To satisfy her adoption agency's requirements, she gladly agreed to remain single for the foreseeable future; however, just as her long wait comes to an end, Lauren is blindsided by a complication she never saw coming: Joshua Avery.

Joshua may be a substitute teacher by day, but Lauren finds his passion for creating educational technology as fascinating as his antics in the classroom. Though she does her best to downplay the undeniable connection between them, his relentless pursuit of her heart puts her commitment to stay unattached to the test and causes her once-firm conviction to waver.

With an impossible decision looming, Lauren might very well find herself choosing between the two deepest desires of her heart . . . even if saying yes to one means letting go of the other.

My Review:

We may be only a couple of months into the year, but I can still wholeheartedly proclaim that Before I Called You Mine by Nicole Deese is going to end up being one of the best books I read the entire year. This beautiful story captivated me right from the start, and shattered my heart into a million tiny pieces. I know this story is going to stick with me for quite some time, and if you only have time to read a few books this year, then I can't possibly recommend enough that this be one of them.

I think readers everywhere are going to be able to sympathize with Lauren Bailey's story. While not everyone may have felt the call to internationally adopt a child, I'm pretty sure at one point or another, we've all felt called to do something from God. Lauren's story is the perfect illustration of the honest truth that following a call from our Heavenly Father is never guaranteed to be easy, but it's worth every hardship encountered along the way. For Lauren, trusting God during one of the hardest decisions of her life is challenging, but she can't deny His continued guidance towards the decision she knows she has to make.

Before I Called You Mine is truly a literary wonder. The story is heart wrenching, the writing is beautiful, and I honestly lost track of just how many passages throughout I ended up highlighting to save for later. I loved the emphasis on how family isn't just blood relations, and Lauren's support group ends up including many amazing people who've basically become part of her family in the process. I also have to say that I don't think there's a woman out there who's going to be able to pick up this book and not fall head over heals for Joshua Avery in the process. He's truly the most amazing book hero I've ever had the pleasure of reading about, and him and Lauren are now my number one book couple of all time. I love reading about healthy relationships where the couple is completely devoted to following His master plan for their lives, and Nicole Deese is a true mastermind at writing these kind of relationships.

I don't truly remember the last time a book impacted me as much as this one did, and I truly loved it from start to finish. I loved the emphasis on heavier topics, but also the fact that there were many humorous moments included without that I believe will have even the most cynical of readers cracking a smile at. I honestly can't recommend this heartwarming story enough, and it gets a perfect five star rating from me.

Thanks so much to Bethany House and NetGalley for the opportunity to advance read this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...
