First Line Friday: An Appalachian Summer

Happy Friday Friends :)

I'm honestly kind of surprised that it's already the end of July. I feel compared to the last few months that this one ended up going by extremely fast.

However, that may partly be due to the fact that I read so many amazing reads during this month, and also may be due to the fact that I was able to go to the lake with my family for a few days a little while back.

Today, I'm once again excited to be linking up with Hoarding Books for another edition of First Line Friday.

For many years, Ann H Gabhart is an author that I've been wanting to try, but had never gotten around to doing so. When I got the opportunity to be a part of the Revell Reads Blog Tour for her newest book, I couldn't wait to see what I've been missing out on all these years. 

After finishing it a few days ago, I knew I wanted to feature it for this week's First Line Friday.

About the Book:


In 1933, most people are focused on the Great Depression but all Piper Danson can think about is how to get out of being a debutante and marrying Braxton Crandall. In an act of defiance, Piper volunteers as a frontier nursing courier in the Appalachian Mountains where adventure awaits.





My Thoughts:

I was really intrigued by the synopsis of this one, and I ended up loving it. I loved the emphasis on taking a step of faith to follow God's plan, even when it's scary and uncertain to do so. I enjoyed all of the main characters, and the writing is beautiful and atmospheric, and I could envision all of the gorgeous aspects of the Appalachian mountains in my mind. It will definitely not be my last experience with a novel by Ann H. Gabhrat, and you can check out my full review here.

      I'm sad that it took me this long to get around to reading one of Ann's novels, but I definitely enjoyed my first experience!

      I finished Acceptable Risk a few days ago and really enjoyed it! Hopefully you do as well.
