Match Made by Erynn Mangum Review

 Hello Friends :)

I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you've chosen to take the time to stop by The Preppy Book Princess today.

I'm Kirby, and I'm always up for sharing all the bookish things with you all.

I could pretty much refer to my 2022 reading year as the year I fell in love with Erynn Mangum's writing.

While I had read one of her novels before last year, honestly I just couldn't get enough of her books in 2022.

She writes some of the most authentic and realistic books for Christian girls/women out there if you ask me, and today I can't wait to share another of her reviews with you all.

Today's review is going to be for book four of the Lauren Holbrook series, and if you'd like to check out my reviews of the first three books in the series, you can do so using the links below:

Rematch

Match Point

Now keep on reading down below for today's full review.

Match Made by Erynn Mangum:

Synopsis:

Annie McKay is a perpetual loner who moves to town for a job and expects for life to pretty much stay the same as it's always been - until she meets Lauren Holbrook Palmer and her group of crazy, fun friends. Being alone has always been Annie's way of life, but with Jesus and Lauren at the helm, things are likely going to change.

This is the fourth novel in the popular Lauren Holbrook series - Miss Match, Rematch and Match Point.

My Review:

Erynn Mangum has truly become one of my favorite authors over the last couple of years, and I don't think I realized just how much I needed this book in my life until I finally got the chance to read it.

I only read the first three Lauren Holbrook books last year, as opposed to everyone who read them back when they were first published. So I definitely didn't have to wait as long to read this one as everyone else would have, but I was still so thankful for its existence when I finished Match Point and just needed more of these characters and their wonderful, quirky stories.

Match Made was definitely more than I was expecting, and I surprised myself with just how much I ended up adoring the new protagonist, Annie. I found myself empathizing with a lot of her personality, and the struggles she's facing trying to fit into situations that she's never been a part of previously. She was honestly such a heartfelt and authentic character, and is another wonderful leading girl from one of this genre's very best authors.

Zach was another great leading guy from this author, and I can't wait to read more of the developing romance between him and Annie in book two. I loved his heart for Jesus, and how he's determined to follow His plan for his life no matter what.

Of course, when you pick up a Lauren Holbrook novel, you expect more of Lauren herself, and she definitely didn't disappoint. It was refreshing seeing her as a married mom of two who still has her spunkiness and loud mouth ways, but is definitely functioning in a much different role than she was at the end of the original three books. And of course, the reader isn't just treated to Laurie as a secondary character. The entire gang is back and ready to go, and I loved how they chose to wrap Annie up in their friendship group, and how much she came to mean to them over the story.

This review is already way longer than I was intending it to be, but I can't conclude it without touching on two last points.

First, I do have to mention that there were quite a few spelling and editing mistakes that got a little on the annoying side over the course of the story. They definitely weren't deal breakers, but obnoxious nonetheless.

And secondly, I loved the brevity where Lexi and Nate both make appearances, and touch on their long struggle and journey with infertility. Amongst the majority of the other secondary characters, it seemed they all had a version of the "perfect" life with not many obvious problems, and I loved that reminder that sometimes life doesn't turn out the way we planned, but God still has everything in control regardless.

Final Rating: 5/5.

I adored this continuation of this series, and I can't wait to dive right into book five hopefully in the very near future.

Thanks so much for reading guys! Have a great rest of your day :)
