Top 5 Wednesday: Favorite Books Outside Your Comfort Zone

Hello All My Fellow Readers :)

It's Wednesday once again, and that means of course that it's time for another Top 5 Wednesday Post.

For anyone who's unfamiliar with Top 5 Wednesday, it is a weekly meme created by Lainey from gingerreadslainey on Youtube, and is now hosted by Sam from Thoughts On Tomes, also from Youtube. The group communicates through goodreads, and here's the link if you're wanting to learn more about it:

One thing I really love about being part of Top 5 Wednesday is that it gets me thinking about topics that I probably otherwise wouldn't have. This week's topic, Favorite Books Outside Your Comfort Zone, is definitely an example of this. I read across such a wide range of genres, that I hadn't actually ever considered myself to have a "reading comfort zone," but after starting to work on this post, I discovered that there is definitely books I've picked up in recent years that the younger me never would have, and these are my 5 picks for my favorites.

1) Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins:

Books with demons in them was never something I thought I would enjoy, but I happened to stumble upon this series after watching a book recommendation video on Youtube. I ended up being really glad I gave this a try. I loved the idea of an academy for wayward supernaturals, and of course who didn't love Archer at first sight.

2) Happily Ever After by Kiera Cass:

I am generally not a huge fan of short story collections at all. I'm not even sure why this is, but I often end up massively disappointed in the ones I end up reading, but that was definitely not the case in this one by Kiera Cass. I honestly adored each of the short stories in The Selection Series, and this beautiful bind up made me appreciate them even more.

3) Six Months Later by Natalie D Richards:

I never used to read thrillers at all, as even the thought of them honestly scared me, but I've now come to love a lot of books within that genre. It was Natalie D Richard's Six Months Later that was one of the very first ones I tried, and oh my goodness I can't even describe how much I loved this book. I was so pulled into the story, that I literally read it all through in one sitting, and I have recommended this book to so many of my friends. It's amazing, and I can't wait to read her newest book that's been sitting on my shelf for a few months.

4) The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin:

I honestly don't even know what genre to classify this amazing series by Michelle Hodkin, but I know it's definitely not something I would have normally found myself reading. This is one of the most intriguing and compelling series I've ever read, and honestly I was so glad that I only ended up reading this last year. I can't imagine how brutal that wait between the book releases must have been for everyone who read them right at the start. I don't know if I see myself reading anything similar to this again in the future, and part of the reason is I just don't know if any book similar to this one could ever even come close to it.

5) The Reason Is You by Sharla Lovelace:

I read a lot of adult fiction, along with my typical YA fiction, but most of the adult fiction I read tends to be contemporaries, Christian fiction, mysteries, or general fiction. While this book is a contemporary, it also has an amazing supernatural element woven seamlessly throughout it, and this is honestly one of my favorite books of all time. I only originally took a chance on this book because it was only 99 cents on Book Outlet one day, and so I decided to go ahead and order it, and ahh I can't even describe all the feels that this book gave me when I read it for the first time, It's become a definite reread for me as well, and I highly recommend giving this one a chance.

That's it for my favorite books that are outside my comfort zone! Thanks for reading guys, and I can't wait to read everyone else's choices. :)

Announcing My Temporary Hiatus From Book Blogging

Hello all my sweet bookish lovelies :) I pray you all had a lovely Christmas, and are looking forward to having a wonderful New Year's as well. I've shared a little bit of info over the past few months on my blog about why I wasn't around as often, but now it's time to share with you all exactly what that is. My hubby and I found out we were expecting earlier this year, and we had the immense pleasure of welcoming our precious baby boy into the world this month. Because of this, I've decided to take a temporary step back from book blogging and reviewing, while I adjust to being a first time mom to a newborn. I will definitely be back blogging in some form or another, but not sure at this point exactly when that will be as my little man deserves all of his mommy's attention right now. I thank you guys all for being a part of another wonderful year here on The Preppy Book Princess, and I look forward to jumping back into the Christian book community sometime in ...

First Line Friday: The Joy of Falling

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you've had time to curl up with some great books. This week, Lindsay Harrel's newest book released, and I loved it when I had the chance to read and review it. I'm excited to feature it for this week's First Line Friday post which is hosted by the lovely ladies over at Hoarding Books. A Refuge in Montana by Allie Pleiter Review

Happy Monday My Sweet Bookish Friends :) It's been awhile, how have you all been doing? Originally, I had hoped to be back doing at least semi regular book reviews by now, and since I had an author offer me an ARC copy right around when I wanted to start trying again, I figured I'd give it a go. Unfortunately, I've been dealing with some health complications post partum (which I really don't want to go into at the moment), and my energy is just not where it needs to be at this point. I'm excited to get to share this review with you all as I did enjoy the title and would love to tell you more about it, but this will be my only review for awhile, at least until we can get everything figured out with my health. With that being said, let's dive right into today's review, but first if you'd like to check out my reviews of the previous titles in the series, you can do so using the links below: Rescue on the Farm A Montana Sized Secret Otherwise, keep on read...
