Hey Everyone :)
It's finally Friday, and I'm glad to say that I'm finally starting to feel better. I'm so thankful for my amazing Naturopathic doctor, and I'm praying that I'm finally going to be done with these horrible health flare ups now that she's got me on some stuff that seems to be helping.
On another note, I have to say that I'm terribly jealous of everyone who's either on a spring break vacation right now, or has one coming up soon. Two of my close friends are off to Vegas next month, and my mom and stepdad and dad and stepmom all have fabulous sounding trips planned for May. Neil and I, however, do not have any trips planned at this time, which would be depressing enough lol, but our city also got a huge blizzard last night, and so seeing everyone's vacation pics from warmer climates on Instagram definitely has me feeling a little green with envy. I do hope everyone's enjoying their vacations though, and hopefully Neil and I will be planning one again soon.
All this thinking about vacation though, of course, got me thinking about Disney again. As you guys all know, Disney is my favorite vacation destination, and usually Neil and my vacation talks don't start with where you want to go, but rather with "which Disney vacation should we take this year?" So thinking about Disney started me thinking about book series that are Disney themed. I was actually quite excited with what I found out about these books, and I couldn't wait to share them all with you.
While I've already read a few of the books in these series, I definitely haven't read them all, and so I just added lots of new books to my TBR list that will definitely help with the Disney withdrawls.
If any of you are also big Disney fans, then here's 5 recommended series you need to try ASAP.
1) The Kingdom Keepers Series by Ridley Pearson:
Of course, I need to start off with my all time favorite, The Kingdom Keepers. I've talked about this series many, many times before on my blog, and I can't honestly recommend this series enough. If you're unfamiliar, this series focuses on five teenagers who are chosen by Disney World Imagineering to become "Holographic Hosts Of The Magic Kingdom." Basically, Disney records them in front of a green screen and then creates holograms to use as tour guides for the park's many visitors. However, the five teens soon finds out there's much more to their job description when they start waking up in the Magic Kingdom, after they've gone to sleep at night. What comes to pass is a seven book series about the lengths these five friends will go to save their favorite beloved theme parks from the evil group of "overtakers" who will stop at nothing to bring the parks to ruin. This series ended up being so popular that it also spanned a spin off series, and the third and final novel in that series comes out next month, and I've already got it on pre order. I'm so excited to finally read it, and I literally recommend this series to anyone I possibly can.
2) Peter and the Starcatchers by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry:
I've only had the pleasure of reading the first two books in this series, and I really need to get on with reading the rest. This series is of course a spin of Disney's beloved Peter Pan, and tells the mysteries and secrets of the original story from quite a different perspective. Not only do I recommend this series to any of you who, like me, love Disney, but it's also a great read to encourage kids to start reading with.
3) The Villains Series by Serena Valentino:
This series currently contains three books: Fairest of all: A Tale of the Wicked Queen, The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty's Prince, and Poor Unfortunate Soul: A Tale of the Sea Witch. I've currently only had the pleasure of reading the first book, but I loved it and I have the second one on order at my local library. This series focuses on the villains, and tells the fairy tale from their perspectives. It shows that there might have been more to the original stories, and I really enjoyed getting to have a unique spin of the classic fairy tales.
4) The Twisted Tales Series by Liz Braswell:
This particular series I haven't actually had the pleasure of reading, and I was ecstatic when I found out about it recently. I've ordered all three books from my library, and I hope to get to them all in March. This series reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising ways, and asks the question: "What if one key moment from a familiar Disney film was changed?" For instance, "What if Jafar was the first one to summon the genie?" Ahhh I literally cannot wait to get started with this series guys.
5) The Hidden Mickey Series by Nancy Temple Rodrigue and David W. Smith:
I hadn't even heard of this particular series before I started researching this blog post, but now I'm literally dying to read it. This adventure series is a four book series that focuses on two teens who find Walt Disney's lost diary. The diary hints at a hidden treasure, and soon they're on a whirlwind trip through Disney history to solve all the clues. I don't know how I'd never heard of this series before, but I need it in my life ASAP guys!
So I think it's safe to say that my March TBR list is going to be chocked full of Disney themed reads. I can't believe I never thought to investigate this sooner, as combining my love of Disney with my love of reading is something I seriously need to do more of.
I thank you guys all so much for reading, and I hope you have a great weekend. :) I'll see you all in my next post.
