Blogmas Day 21: 2016 Reading Resolution Results

It's Blogmas Day 21 Guys :)

As it's getting closer and closer to Christmas, I've found that I haven't had quite as much reading time the last little while. And as I don't expect this to change much over the next few days, I thought today would be a great day to post the results of the Reading Resolutions I set for myself back at the start of 2016, and if you're interested you can read my original post here.

My first Bookish resolution was that I set my Goodreads 2016 reading goal to be 350 books!

Results: Unfortunately, this is a goal I didn't even come close to matching, as right now I've only completed 268 books, and I definitely don't see myself finishing 72 books before New Years. I'll probably end up reaching 270 before then, but that will probably be all.

However, I'm okay with not making this goal this year, as it shows that in 2016 I was sick a lot less, and as such, I didn't finish quite as many books as I did the previous years because I wasn't home sick as much.

I'm still really proud of how many books I managed to finish, and I discovered a lot of new favorites in the process.

My Second Bookish Resolution was that I wanted to read more classics.

Results: Unfortunately, this is another resolution that I've failed miserably at. I'm currently reading Wuthering Heights, but I wanted to read a few classics, and that just didn't happen. I will definitely be continuing on with this goal in 2017!

My Third Bookish Resolution was that I wanted to read books by at least five authors that I'd never read before.

Results: This one I'm proud to say that I completed wholeheartedly, and then some. I read a ton of new authors this year, and while I'm not going to list them all, I will list some of the ones I ended up enjoying the most:

Becky Wade, Lis Wiehl, Rick Riordan, Samantha Chase, Emery Lord, Ann Aguirre, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Colleen Hoover, Claudia Gray, Mary E Pearson, and Pintip Dunn.

My Fourth Bookish Resolution was to read more inspirational fiction.

Results: I'm proud to say that this is definitely another resolution that I completed. I was able to read books by:

Colleen Coble, Rachel Hauck, Dani Pettrey, Becky Wade, Melissa Tagg, Denise Hunter, Lois Gladys Leppard, Janice Thompson; among others, as well as lots of the Harlequin Love Inspired Novels.

My Fifth and Last Bookish Resolution was to get my blog on a regular updating schedule.

Results: This is definitely the resolution that I'm the most proud of, as I feel my blog came a long way in 2016 from what it was when I started it in September of 2015. I've definitely come to love the Book Blogging Community, and I look forward to continuing to grow my blog in 2017.

Thanks so much for reading today guys! I look forward to seeing you here again tomorrow for Blogmas Day 22, and I'm also looking forward to 2017 and the great things ahead for the Bookish community.

First Line Friday: Courting Mr. Emerson

Happy Friday Everyone :) Since it is Friday, I'll once again be participating in First Line Friday which is hosted by Hoarding Books .  For this week, I'm going to be sharing the first line from Melody Carlson's newest book, Courting Mr. Emerson. About The Book: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause--and finds herself falling for him in the process. A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them. But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The quest...

First Line Friday: The Inheritance

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you're all had a great week and that you're staying safe no matter where you are. I haven't been leaving my house much lately other than for work, and because of this, I've had lots of reading time on my hands. Last year my hubby and I took a road trip that included a visit to our favorite bookstore, and we decided to each pick a book that wouldn't be our first choice. The purpose was to try and read something that still interested us, but would maybe be a bit different than what we would typically go for first. My pick ended up being The Inheritance by Michael Phillips, a book I actually ended up being quite excited about, despite never having heard of it prior. Unfortunately, it ended up sitting on my bookshelf ever since, and I'm so thankful I finally got the opportunity to pick it up and start reading it this past week. The Inheritance by Michael Phillips: About the Book: The death of the clan patriarch h...

First Line Friday: Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake

Happy Friday Friends :) There's so many reasons I'm excited that it's once again Friday. I'm excited to be taking part in another edition of First Line Friday hosted by Hoarding Books , but I'm also excited to be featuring one of my favorite author's new releases for this week's edition. First Line Friday simply consists of sharing the first line from the book you're currently reading, and today I'm going to be sharing from Mandi Blake's new book, which released last week. Remembering the Cowboy by Mandi Blake: About the Book: They have unfinished business. She just can’t remember what it is. Camille Vanderbilt is headed back home to Wyoming with one goal: find her old best friend and give him a piece of her mind for ghosting her six years ago. She won’t let anyone stand in her way… until a deer runs into the road and causes her to wreck and forget almost everything. Noah Harding lives a simple life as a firefighter and rancher until Camille cras...
