I'm excited to be sharing a new book review for a cozy holiday read for today's Blogmas post, and as you can tell from the title, that is Kissing Father Christmas by Robin Jones Gunn.

Anna's first visit to Carlton Heath in England was last May for the wedding of her cousin Ian to Miranda. Review:
I was a huge fan of the two previous novels in this series, Finding Father Christmas and Engaging Father Christmas, so when I discovered that Robin Jones Gunn was releasing the third book this Christmas season, I knew I definitely had to go ahead and read it. I was a tad confused at first though, because I didn't see what was really left with Miranda and Ian's story that would constitute enough to fill a whole novel, and so I was definitely pleasantly surprised when I actually read the synopsis and discovered that this new novel was about Ian's American cousin Anna, and her visit to Carlton Heath for Christmas.
Anna is a likable character right from day one. A childhood where she was encouraged not to dream or wish for the future has left her feeling gun shy in both love and her budding career as an illustrator, and this visit to Carlton Heath to visit her beloved extended family might just be the push she needs this holiday season. Not only is Anna welcomed with open arms by Ian and Miranda and her aunt and uncle, she's also swept up by the inhabitants of Carlton Heath, who do her best to assure her that she's just as much a part of their family as well. Soon Anna's swept up in the charm of this beloved home, and it's equally charming inhabitants, but if she was truly going to be honest with herself, she knows that it's not just either of these that has brought her back.
After sharing an unexpected kiss from Peter, one of the groomsmen, at Miranda and Ian's wedding, she just knows that there is a charming romance just waiting for her if she'll only take the step to believe it herself. However, putting herself out there doesn't go as Anna has dreamed, and instead, Peter seems insistent on pushing her away, and stopping anything from developing between them. Anna truly feels that if they both just believe in it, there's definitely something brewing between them, but convincing Peter of the same might be a whole different story. And soon family secrets and plot twists are coming into play that Anna never could imagined, but just might change her life, and make this the best Christmas she could ever possibly have.
I loved getting to be back in the world of Carlton Heath again. There's just something about that charming estate and it's quirky houseful of delightful characters that just feels warm and inviting, and is once again, the perfect holiday read to curl up with a cup of tea or hot chocolate in front of a fireplace. As always, I loved getting another look into Miranda and Ian's lifestyle, as well as Miranda's brother and his entertaining family, and of course, being right back in this delightful town for all it's holiday traditions, like the yearly performance of A Christmas Carol. It's no secret that Robin Jones Gunn is one of my all time favorite authors, and in fact, her Christy Miller series is definitely ones of the series that has had the biggest impact on my life. Once again, she's written a beautiful, touching but heart wrenching Christmas novel that I can't recommend enough, and this beautifully written story gets five out of five stars from me. If you're looking for a new holiday series to pick up this Christmas season, then I definitely recommend you give this one a try. :)
