Blogmas Day Four: Book Review, Halfway Hunted By Terry Maggert

Welcome to Blogmas day four guys!

I hope you're all enjoying the Christmas season so far.  I know I sure am, and I'm loving getting to spend it with all you guys everyday for Blogmas.

Today I'm excited to share a new book review for a book I recently finished, Halfway Hunted by Terry Maggert.

I've already reviewed the previous two books in this series here and here

And so let's go ahead and jump into book three. :)

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred per cent my own.

Halfway Hunted by Terry Maggert:

Source: Author

Publication Date: June 2nd, 2016.

Synopsis:

Welcome to Halfway; where the waffles are golden, the moon is silver, and magic is just around every corner.

A century old curse is broken, releasing Exit Wainwright, an innocent man trapped alone in time.

Lost and in danger, he enlists Carlie, Gran and their magic to find the Warlock who sentenced him to to a hundred years of darkness. The hunter becomes the hunted when Carlie's spells awaken a cold-blooded killer intent on adding another pelt to their gruesome collection-hers.

But the killer has never been to Halfway before, where there's three unbreakable rules:

1) Don't complain about the diner's waffles.

2) Don't break the laws of magic.

3) Never threaten a witch on her home turf.

Can Carlie solve an ancient crime, defeat a ruthless killer, and save the love of her life from a vampire's curse without burning the waffles?

Come hunt with Carlie, and answer the call of the wild.

My Review:

This is the third novel in the Halfway Witchy series, and I'm so glad that I was able to marathon read all three. Carlie's become a favorite character of mine, and I've enjoyed getting to visit and revisit her world.

This novel starts out with Carlie not at her finest. Thanks to the heroic actions of her soulmate Wulfric, at the end of Halfway Bitten, she's worried she's lost him for good, and doesn't know how to look forward to a life without him. However, life in Halfway has become never quiet for Carlie, and soon enough another supernatural scenario falls into her lap at the diner where she works creating the world's best waffles. A man named Exit has appeared in her hometown, and has the social stigma attached to him of kind of being from a different time, in fact, a different century to be completely honest.

Sinister magic has been at work, and Exit has been robbed of his life by a warlock who saw to his hundred year nap, and Carlie and Gran know it's time for justice to be served. Of course, this is Halfway, New York where nothing's ever black and white, and soon enough the mystery turns into something sinister and deadly that no one could have ever seen coming. Through it all, Carlie and Gran will have to work together with their white magic for the good of all mankind, or at least the population of their hometown; and will have to go to any means possible to help Exit find the answers he's so desperately seeking.

Once again, Terry Maggert has created an intense, gripping fantasy novel that had me glued to each page, and anxious to find out what was going to happen next. I gave this book four out five stars, and it would have actually been a five star novel for me if not for two things: 1) I really didn't like the way that Carlie went about trying to fix things with Wulfric. I thought it seemed really out of character for her, and I hated how she was willing to sacrifice everything and everyone to get what she wanted, when in the past books she's always been so caring and selfless. 2) And secondly, I found the mystery element this time around to be a bit more confusing than the earlier two books. It was definitely still interesting, and kept me guessing, there were just a couple of points that I felt didn't completely add up to me.

However, I overall once again really enjoyed this trip to Halfway, New York, and I'm so grateful to Terry Maggert for not only the opportunity to have read his amazing series, but also for opening my eyes to books that I don't typically end up reading. I highly recommend this series guys, and I'm so excited to have discovered that this series is not a trilogy like I originally thought, and will actually have a fourth book soon!

Thanks so much for reading today guys, and once again joining me for Blogmas. I look forward to seeing you all again tomorrow, and I hope you all have a great rest of your day. :)

Della and Darby by Susannah B. Lewis Review

Happy Monday Friends :) I pray today finds you all doing well, and I'm so thankful you decided to stop by my little corner of the internet. My husband and I actually have this week off of work for a much needed holiday, and I'm excited for the many fun things we have planned. Aside from the fun things, I'm honestly thankful to have some extra time to get my house back in shape, and to get more organized for Christmas. I also hope to have lots of time to curl up with some great reads, and I recently had a chance to read one of my most anticipated 2023 releases! Earlier in the year, I read my first novel by Susannah B. Lewis, and I couldn't have loved it more. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of this entire year, and I've been looking forward to reading her next release ever since. First Line Friday: All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes

Happy Friday Everyone :) I hope you've all had a great week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend. Today I'm excited to once again be linking up with Hoarding Books for First Line Friday. First Line Friday is one of my favorite weekly memes, and it simply consists of sharing the first line of the book you're currently reading. I've had a lot of extra reading time on my hands lately because of all the social distancing, and as such, I've been able to read a lot of the titles that have been sitting on my shelves for quite some time. Today's book is one of such titles, and I'm happy that I finally found the time to get to it as I'm really enjoying it so far. All's Fair in Love and Cupcakes by Betsy St. Amant: About the Book: Kat inspected rows of the same old cupcakes. They seemed to blink back at her, as if they knew she was capable of so much more. Kat Varland has had enough of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. At twenty-six years old...
